The combination of wenge doors with the interior

Doors Wenge

Wenge - a tree of valuable rare species that grows in the tropical forests of Central Africa. In height, it grows up to 25 meters, and the maximum recorded diameter is 120 cm. The color of wood is from yellow-brown to black-brown, there is a huge variety of shades. For the design of modern interiors, high-quality parquet, details of stairs, sports corners are made from it, since it is very durable. But the most popular are the wenge doors in the interior.

Wood features

Wenge wood is very different from other types:

  • has a high density - greater than that of oak, beech, larch, ash and many others;
  • a huge variety of shades - from very light to completely black;
  • incredibly beautiful, noble texture;
  • significant resistance to pressure, which makes it possible to make objects unique in strength from it;
  • difficult to process, due to the large number of resins, minerals;
  • possesses bactericidal properties - products from it are not affected by mold, fungus, insects;
  • durable - with proper processing, it will last a hundred years, with time it darkens even more;
  • resistant to sudden changes in temperature, humidity, because it is used not only indoors, but also for outdoor decoration;
  • heavy, sinking in water, the fibers are straight and not intertwined.

Wenge wood

Wenge does not grow in the post-Soviet space, and imported from the African continent costs “space” money. Therefore, many unscrupulous manufacturers tint a beech or a nut, passing it off as the original wood, because “wenge” is usually just the color, and not the real Congolese rosewood.

Types, models of interior doors

When choosing internal doors for an apartment, a private house, you should determine the main important characteristics:

  • design - they should fit well into the existing or planned interior;
  • price - how much I would like to meet;
  • sizes - depend on the width, height of the doorway;
  • opening options - there are several;
  • technical properties - wear resistance, sound insulation, resistance to moisture, temperature, etc.

The price category most often depends on the material of manufacture:

  • solid wood - made of natural wood, varnished. Possess the highest sound insulation, well keep heat in the room, have a high cost;
  • veneered - conifers are covered with thin veneer made of more valuable wood, and varnish on top. With proper care, they will last 20-35 years, the structure has average soundproofing properties, and is unstable to humidity;
  • from eco-veneer - consist of wood fibers with polyurethane. They differ in environmental friendliness, good sound insulation, a wide assortment, but worsen the indoor air exchange;
  • laminated - coated with a material that simulates wood. They are the cheapest, but individual models will last a long time;
  • covered with PVC film, wood color. Particleboard in combination with plywood usually serves as the basis.

Depending on the method of opening the shutters, there are compartments (sliding), pencil cases (hinged), accordion books, pendulum ones (open in any direction). By the number of valves - single, one-and-a-half, double-leaf. Models are distinguished by the presence of transparent, colored or frosted glass, mirrors, metal inserts, panels, tsar, there are also solid-wood "deaf" designs.

The design should look good on both sides, originally fitting into the interior of two rooms at once.

The choice of color, texture

There are a great many shades of African rosewood:

  • tan;
  • purple black;
  • chocolate;
  • pale brown with black veins;
  • royal burgundy;
  • golden;
  • greenish terracotta;
  • brown-lilac;
  • burgundy;
  • tea red;
  • pink-brown with greenish spots.

The texture of the wenge door is matte and glossy. The choice of a particular shade depends on the stylistic design of the premises where they will be located, as well as the personal preferences of the residents.

The “classic” color scheme is white inserts of glass or other wood in a solid wenge canvas. Such a solution will decorate almost any interior.

Wenge and other interior colors

Color combinations are preferred with light warm hues. In the vast majority of cases, doors are selected at least two to three tones darker than walls, curtains, but can almost match the color of the floor. Furniture of the color of the African rosewood also looks good.

From warm colors fit:

  • pistachio;
  • light green;
  • pale yellow;
  • peach;
  • reddish brown;
  • light tangerine.

Cold are used less often - graphite gray, soft blue, violet, emerald. Looks great grassy-green carpet on the floor, echoing with the same curtains, light brown furniture, red-black doors.

When furniture, like doorways, is decorated with an African rosewood, it is better that the upholstery of sofas and armchairs be lighter than wooden parts, tables, chairs are one or two tones lighter than doors, draperies on furniture, windows, and also screens are contrasting. The necessary fittings are fulfilled: for cold shades of wenge silver-gray, for warm - yellow-gold.

The choice of wallpaper under the door

Wallpaper is always selected lighter than door leafs - for small, poorly lit rooms with windows to the north, white, beige, sand, ocher are preferred. Spacious rooms with windows to the south "will like" the cold colors - turquoise, blue, violet, pale green. The ideal complement to the “expensive” interior will be vinyl or silk murals with images of summer forest, sea sunset, rural landscapes or animals.
If the door leafs have stained-glass windows, many patterns, various metal inserts, the wallpaper is selected monophonic and vice versa, a simple brown door looks advantageously against a moderately colorful background. Wallpaper sometimes glue at the same time two types, but different textures, colors, patterns. For example, two-thirds of the walls of the room are covered with wide greenish-beige canvases in a small flower, and narrower, with large plant elements, are glued between them. Another option is gray plain wallpaper on three walls, and colorful photo murals on the far wall opposite the wide doorway.

Choosing flooring and skirting boards

The combination with a laminate that imitates bleached or stained oak, with the same baseboards, looks original, expensive. The wood structure in the design of the floor is required - this is the only way to create the most harmonious interior.

The most commonly used imitation of the following breeds:

  • Cherries
  • ate;
  • pine trees;
  • maple tree;
  • mahogany;
  • beech;
  • Karelian birch.

Laminate "under the wenge" or a floorboard of this color is used most often. Natural parquet from Congolese rosewood looks great, but it can’t afford its middle or economy class, due to the excessive cost of raw materials. Here, less expensive wood imitating wenge comes to the rescue, and high-quality linoleum comes to cheap doors covered with self-adhesive film.

For hygiene reasons, ceramic tiles imitating wood are often laid in the rooms of the bathtub and toilet. Many manufacturers produce floor and wall tiles that resemble the texture of an African rosewood.

Plinths for any room are recommended to be selected according to the color of door leafs, which are sometimes combined with the colors of window frames. In this case, the floor details are preferred much darker than the floor material. When the room is cramped, they are made as light as possible, giving the space lightness and airiness. When buying laminate flooring, sellers often recommend immediately taking the baseboard of the same color, some companies even give it as a gift when buying large batches of flooring, because this design is most popular. Sometimes they buy a skirting board of the same color with walls, but this design is not suitable for corridors that are too narrow - the room will become narrower.

If the door leafs are made of natural wood, if possible, a wooden floor is also made - parquet or plank.

Door styles

Interior wenge doors look great in a wide variety of interior styles:

  • classic - a small number of ornaments - meanders, curls in the design of red-brown designs, successfully in harmony with the chiseled furniture legs;
  • Provence - the lightest shades of Congolese rosewood,
  • minimalism - "deaf" maximally plain doors, simple furniture of "pure" colors - red, yellow, black, laminate floors and nothing more;
  • ethnic - the gamma of the interior is made in brown-green tones, the doors are the darkest elements in harmony with wicker mats on the floor, indoor flowers in floor vases, a variety of natural decor;
  • Art Nouveau - emphasis is placed on wide doorways, which are decorated with brown-black horizontal stripes, there are light stretch ceilings, glass inserts above the doors;

The described material is resistant to the vast majority of external influences, therefore, it is used in the design of any room:

  • for the living room - it adds to the room luxury, unique coziness, emphasizes the impeccable taste of the owners of the home, preferably decoration with glass elements;
  • in the bedroom - it has soundproofing characteristics, you can easily fall asleep behind such a door, even if someone is making noise in another room, light, relaxing colors are recommended;
  • for children - high resistance to damage, even if there are a lot of children, they are unlikely to break the structure, convex parts, glass at the very minimum;
  • in the bathroom - the humidity of the wenge doors is not terrible, so it is mounted in the bathroom, toilet;
  • in the kitchen - has the ability to disinfect the air, clean it, which is so important when cooking;
  • in the dressing room - clothes, shoes located in such a room, does not absorb odors, does not grow moldy, even if it is on the ground floor;
  • for the entrance hall - everyone who comes into the house sees the high cost of the interior from the doorway, for the owners this is a great opportunity to boast of wealth in the family.
