White wallpaper is always a good solution. They have a different texture, a wide variety of drawings, are made from almost any material, suitable for most of the current premises both in the apartment and in the country house. White wallpapers in the interior of any room visually expand it, fill it with light. But they should be applied “wisely”.

Design features: advantages, disadvantages

Like all decoration materials, white wallpapers have their advantages and disadvantages. Their advantages:

  • will be a great backdrop for furniture, decor;
  • white colors are combined with all others, perfectly complementing them;
  • this color has a good effect on the psycho-emotional state of a person: it helps to deal with stress, think about pleasant things;
  • light shades visually expand the room, making it lighter, fresher, more spacious, which is most important for cramped apartments;
  • the material is suitable for each room - you can paste over the entire room, choosing only different patterns, texture, combinations;
  • they are used in almost any interior;
  • they paste over both walls and ceilings, individual elements of furniture;
  • wallpaper for painting after some time repaint, completely transforming the interior.

But there are some disadvantages:

  • snow-white wallpapers quickly get dirty - pollution on them is very noticeable;
  • when used in spacious rooms, with large windows facing south, southeast, it is advisable to use a dark decor - otherwise the eyes will quickly get tired due to the abundance of whiteness;
  • white glossy ones can reflect other colors - gray, light brown sofa or armchair, against their background will create the impression of an unaesthetic dirty spot;
  • paper will often have to re-stick.

Disadvantages are easy to avoid if you choose the right texture, pattern, furniture. Correctly "arrange" the light.

  • Paper - the most popular, cheap.They have several subspecies: simplex (single-layer, smooth or embossed), duplex (pressed from two layers - the main and decorative), resistant to light. Wall murals depict landscapes, still lifes, animals, famous paintings, abstractions. They can have the texture “under the skin”, “under the stone”, “under the tree”, “Venetian plaster”, etc.
  • Vinyl - often used in recent years. They are made of non-woven and paper, with a matte, glossy finish. Varieties:
  1. foamed vinyl (rough, voluminous), decorated with sparkles;
  2. kitchen vinyl (thicker than usual, smooth), can be washed;
  3. silk screen printing. Wear-resistant material, changes color depending on how light falls on it.
  • Non-woven - made of non-woven fibers, on which foamed vinyl is applied in the form of volumetric, structured patterns that contrast with or merge with the background.
  • Textile - beautiful, stylish. They are made of natural fabrics glued to the base or mixed fibers.
  • Fiberglass - are made from a specific set of mineral components.
  • Acrylic - similar to foamed vinyl, but instead of the latter here is acrylic. The paintings are very original, embossed.
  • Liquid - look like not a canvas, but a mixture of natural elements and glue. When hardening, a textured layer is obtained, which, if necessary, is restored if any defects appear.
  • Natural - from natural components applied to paper. Types: linkcrust (the paper base is covered with a layer of plastic from natural materials, alkyd resins), cork (environmentally friendly, natural, do not cause allergies), bamboo (from a split bamboo stalk).

The use of white wallpaper in the interior of an apartment, home

Snow-white wallpapers are the only type of wall decoration or are originally combined with other materials - wood, stone, plastic, metal, glass.“Unions” of two types of wallpaper with a different pattern look beautiful - small and large, monochrome and color, as well as with sharply contrasting patterns. The floor in a room with snow-white walls is made light, but always darker than the ceiling, walls.

White wallpaper in the interior of the house

A completely white interior is impractical, especially when a lot of people with children, pets live in the apartment. You should be prepared for the fact that you often have to re-glue the walls.

In the hall

Here it is better to make snow-white walls well cleaned at least from below, since dust and dirt are brought in from the street, especially in wet weather. One third of the floor walls are decorated with plastic panels, bleached oak, and other wood. The rest is glued with wallpaper. High-quality washable materials are glued from floor to ceiling or to the ceiling too. A popular design of the corridor is a drawing of white bricks, on which a green liana curls; white-gray-yellow pebbles, as if lying in the water; blue, brown boots and umbrellas on a creamy white background.

For a narrow corridor, a discreet paper decoration of the ceiling with stripes running perpendicular to its long walls is suitable - so the room will visually expand.

In the living room

A light laminate is laid on the floor, sometimes the ceiling is pasted over. Three walls may not have a picture at all, while the fourth will be decorated with murals depicting a morning city in white and pink tones, a cream-green forest landscape, white and yellow butterflies, a bouquet of huge daisies, lilies, dahlias, tea roses, blossoming apple trees. Black and white images of animals look interesting - polar bears, penguins, rabbits, cats, etc. Curtains are made with bright elements or contrasting, and the tulle is snow-white. Contrasting borders along the perimeter of the ceiling diversify the interior. For furniture, plain draperies, you should not use excessively gloomy colors, especially when the walls are glossy - they will reflect the color, creating a feeling of “dirt”.

In the kitchen

A completely white kitchen means excessive time spent cleaning it. Because snow-white wallpaper is made out only of the dining area. Here the images of fruits, flowers, dishes, "peas", squares will be appropriate. To give the interior freshness, “frosty” patterns are used, which are formed on the windows in winter. The space of the kitchen apron, the place next to the sink, stove, is made out by washable wallpaper or plastic panels. Light ceramic tiles are laid on the floor; the headset itself is made contrasting. The dining table and chairs are transparent, which will give additional space to the cramped kitchenette.

In the bedroom

In the standard design of the bedroom, everything is pasted over with white, the wall at the head of the room with contrasting wallpaper and photo wallpaper. The drawings are duplicated on other objects, elements - curtains, bedspreads, furniture upholstery, which are made in any suitable color. Furniture is preferable to light, if there are other color accents. Or contrasting is allowed - then the walls will become just the background. The ceiling here is also papered with wallpaper, but completely white or with a pattern different from the one on the walls. Bright lace shades on the bedside lamps will make the interior complete.

In the nursery

The boy will like the white and blue marine theme - sailboats, anchors, foam on the crests of the waves, blue and white draperies, vests.

A teenager of any gender may prefer combinations with purple-black, dark brown, dark blue-gray. This phenomenon is temporary, and the wallpaper, especially simple, paper ones, is easy to re-stick at any time, completely updating the interior.

Checkboxes on the wall

For the smallest, natural materials are used, drawings in pastel shades, as sharp contrasts can scare the baby. Images of heroes of developing cartoons, the first children's fairy tales will fall right in place.

The design of a nursery should in no case be associated with a hospital, doctors' white coats - this is an extra negative for a child.
