Christmas garland on the window

Garlands are beautiful, original and festive, it is not surprising that they are a traditional decoration for the New Year. They can be simple and complex, plain or multi-colored, made of paper, cones, spruce branches, sweets and other improvised materials. The article describes more than 20 options on the topic: do-it-yourself Christmas garland, detailed instructions are attached to each.

Paper garlands

From paper Christmas trees

Even a child can cope with the manufacture of such a simple decoration. For work you will need:

  • Christmas tree template (can be drawn by hand or found on the Internet and printed);
  • thick paper or cardboard with a bright pattern (it is desirable that the patterns are varied, then the garland will be colorful and festive);
  • scissors;
  • hole puncher;
  • rope.

On the back of the colored cardboard, circle the prepared template and cut the required number of fir trees along the contour. Make a hole in the top of each part with a hole punch. Put all the Christmas trees on the rope. Pass the rope twice through each hole. Then the flat parts will be more stable, will not move down the cord and deviate to the sides.

Carved herringbone

This option is somewhat similar to the previous one in execution and idea, only the Christmas trees are radically different due to the original design. You will need:

  • colored or patterned paper;
  • rope;
  • scissors;
  • ruler;
  • pencil.

Paper and scissors

On the back of the sheet, draw isosceles triangles. They can be the same size or different. No need to make too high or narrow parts. If the width of the base is 10 cm, then the sides should be no more than 12-13 cm. Next, it is necessary to make cut-off lines on the Christmas tree in several levels. The intervals between them should be the same. The first notch (the place of the future notch) is a line parallel to the base, which does not reach the sides by about 0.5 cm. Stepping back from it, draw two notches opposite each other parallel to the previous one, from the left and right edges. Naturally they should not converge in the middle. The next serif repeats the first and so on. Cut the parts along the drawn lines. At the top, make a hole in the hole through which the Christmas trees will dress on the cord.

"Snowflake"

There are a lot of ways to make garlands with snowflakes. Below is described only one of the possible. For work you will need:

  • thick cardboard of different colors;
  • scissors, hole punch;
  • fishing line or rope.

Snowflake shape

From the back of the cardboard, draw snowflakes according to the selected pattern. The optimal size of the element is 10-12 cm in diameter. Make holes with scissors or a hole punch: one on the opposite rays and two in the middle. Put the cut snowflakes on a thread or a thin rope through the holes, alternating colors. A red-white garland looks very interesting. If you want to make patterned snowflakes, cut them out of thin paper or napkins. Then put on a flat surface and grease with glue water (2 tablespoons of PVA in a glass of water). After drying, the parts will keep their shape as starched.

Cupcake paper Christmas trees

The garland is a rope on which small three-tier Christmas trees of colored shapes are fixed. Making them is very simple. You will need:

  • Molds for cupcakes (in the amount of a multiple of 3);
  • Glue or stapler;
  • Color cardboard;
  • Hemp rope.

Cookie cutters and threads

Fold the mold four times, it will be one tier. Glue the three molds glued together with each other, forming a Christmas tree. You can use paper clips or a glue gun. Decorate the top of the Christmas trees with small stars made of colored cardboard. Using the same staples or glue gun, attach the Christmas trees to the twine.

Advice! Try to combine several elements on one garland, for example, differently made Christmas trees and snowflakes.

Cupcake Garland

From a paper spiral

This decoration is made very easily, but it looks unusual and interesting. A spiral garland can be placed on a chandelier, a window or on a ceiling, in any place where it will hang freely. For work you will need:

  • thick cardboard;
  • scissors;
  • small christmas balls;
  • ribbons
  • glue.

Cut a large circle from the cardboard, draw a snail inside it and cut along the contour with scissors. Ribbons will be needed in order to attach the balls to the cardboard snail at equal distances using glue or a stapler. Glue one ribbon to the top, making a loop for hanging the garland.

Volumetric garland of colored paper

Not so long ago, such garlands were very popular and were found in almost every apartment. Today they have been replaced by a more interesting decor. However, this option deserves attention. To make the jewelry you will need:

  • colored paper
  • scissors
  • stapler.

Make square sheets of paper. Fold the sheet in half to form an isosceles triangle and then fold it in half again to make a versatile triangle. Make cuts along the fold line without cutting to the edge of 0.5 cm. Make the same cuts on the opposite side and unfold the paper again in a square. For a garland there should be a pair quantity of details. Connect two squares of the same color, gluing the corners together. A few pairs of stitched squares, glue to each other through the middle. When all the parts are joined, stretch them. It turns out a voluminous, pretty decoration.

The easiest paper garland to make

This option is completely straightforward, but at the same time very nice. It is a curved paper strip. Most often, such garlands are fixed on the ceiling or on the wall, they hang like a serpentine. For work you will need:

  • colored paper;
  • stapler;
  • scissors.

Cut strips of colored paper with a width of 10-15 cm. On each side, make cuts in increments of about 2 cm, not cutting to the end 1-2 cm. Turn over the strip and between already prepared cuts, make the same only on the other side, also not reaching the edge. The result is a garland blank in the form of a ribbon cut by scissors on both sides. Stretch the resulting strip. If a longer tape is needed, connect several elements. The decoration looks beautiful when several long ribbons of different colors are prepared.

Garland on the wall

Corrugated paper garland with fringe

This decoration is more like a fluffy colored rain. For creativity you will need:

  • corrugated paper roll;
  • scissors;
  • sewing machine.

Cut the whole roll into several small rolls with a width of 5-10 cm, depending on the desired width of the finished product. Roll them out to get long ribbons. Fold a few ribbons together and sew in the middle on a sewing machine. At the edges, make a lot of small incisions using ordinary or curly scissors. The main thing in this work is not to hurt the middle. Then spread the fringe, trying not to stretch it too much. Get an airy fluffy decoration. In the manufacture of a garland, you can connect ribbons of different colors, then it will turn out brighter.

Ready-made garland

Garlands look very interesting in the form of a round dance, which is introduced by Santa Claus, Snow Maiden, Snowman, Christmas tree and other New Year characters. Heroes can be performed independently in the form of applications. The main thing is that their handles are placed to the side, so that parts can be fastened. Garlands of natural materials

From cones, dried oranges and pieces of felt

To make such a garland is very simple, only you have to collect cones in advance and prepare orange slices. Citrus is cut into thin slices and dried in the open air or in the oven. Garlands of this type are usually collected on a hemp rope. For work you will need:

  • dried oranges;
  • fir cones;
  • rope;
  • felt;
  • hot glue;
  • any other natural decor (cinnamon sticks, bay leaf, mistletoe, coniferous twigs, acorns, etc.).

Such a garland can be made in two ways. First: cut a long rope of the length that the decoration should be and tie many knots on it. Glue a decorative element on each. The second option looks more interesting and voluminous. For each decorative element, additionally cut short ropes of different lengths and use them to fasten the parts to the main cord.

Felt is needed in order to cut the figures. They can be flat or voluminous. In the second case, you will have to cut two identical parts and sew them together, filling the inside with cotton or other soft material.

This garland is wonderful complemented by stars made of vines, painted in golden color or spruce twigs. The finished product can be covered in places with golden or silver paint, artificial snow.

Garland of sweets

From sweets: 3 options

Many decorate the Christmas tree with sweets, but also from sweets can be made wonderful into a garland. Before work, it is advisable to eat well so as not to eat half the details.

Bonding sweets can be one of three ways:

  • Fasten the ponytails of sweets with each other using a stapler or thin short wires. To make the decoration look harmonious, it is better to use sweets of the same size, but different colors.
  • The second method is the separate bonding of sweets using a rope cut into small pieces. Connect the sweets by tying one by one so that between the tails of the candy wrapper there is a piece of rope.
  • The third method is the most time-consuming, but it also looks much more interesting. For a garland, prepare one long piece of rope of the length that the finished decoration should be. The rope must be thick enough to support the weight of all the candies. Using thinner ropes or ribbons of different lengths, tie each candy separately to the main cord. In this case, the more varied the candy, the better.

With edible bulbs

This undoubtedly original decoration is made very easy. For work you will need:

  • m & m’s sweets or the like (you can take raisins in chocolate, but then the garland will turn out not so bright);
  • jelly candies (it is most convenient to use jelly worms);
  • knife;
  • fishing line or thread with a needle;
  • lighter.

Garland of sweets

The m & m’s candies in this case will play the role of the light bulb itself, and the marmalades, cut into small pieces, will be the base. Prepare the details. Cut small jelly cylinders for each dragee. On the one hand, using a lighter, melt the jelly a little and attach it to the “bulb” with a hot edge. When the required number of parts is ready, thread them through a jelly "base". The thread should not be too thick, otherwise the jelly will burst.

  • white thread with a needle;
  • round polystyrene or cotton wool.
