Modern ideas for decorating a children's room

Modern design of a children's room

The modern design of the children's room is not an easy task. Any parent takes care of the health and comfort of his child, trying to give him the best. The task is complicated if the family has several children, especially heterosexual. Each, even the most unpretentious child, needs to provide space for sleep, games, study, hobbies, equipping them with all the rules of ergonomics. Design ideas on how to design a nursery in a modern style, the correct zoning, selection of colors, furniture for children of different sexes, ages, more in this text.

Features of the layout, zoning of the nursery

For the nursery, the lightest, warmest place in the house is chosen. This room should not be walk-through. When the apartment has only one room, with the help of a partition, a screen or a closet, a corner is separated in which a separate “small world” is created for a small person. The main thing here is safety, convenience, harmonious design, consistent with his interests.

Which zones should be allocated:

  • sleeping;
  • game room;
  • training;
  • sports section;
  • for dressing;
  • for creativity.

Zoning depends on the age of the child - the teenager will not need a place for games, and the baby will need a training zone. If there are more than one children, there is no way to give everyone a room, then everyone will get a separate berth, a working corner. Everyone will have to play, do physical exercises together, and mini-wardrobes are made separate for boys and girls, especially if they are already over ten years old.

About modern design

Modern design implies the simplest forms, ergonomic layout, a minimum of unnecessary decor.

The main features of the style:

  • space - mostly open, zoning is done using screens, furnishings, floor and ceiling height differences;
  • furniture - of simple shapes, with smooth surfaces that are easy to clean, often transformable, multi-functional;
  • decor - almost any, very diverse, but not plentiful, the room should not look "cluttered";
  • lighting - mostly bright, many light sources, including natural;
  • color design - mostly monochrome with individual bright accents;
  • materials - glass, metals, wood, ceramic tiles, plastic, MDF, stone.

Color palette

The color scheme of modern interiors is discreet, usually combining several shades of the same color.Most often they use no more than three colors at a time, with the main share accounting for up to 60-65% of the design, the rest - 25-35% and 5-10%, respectively. Spacious rooms with windows facing south, southeast, decorated in dark, cold colors. Closer, northern, north-western - in bright, warm colors.

An abundance of overly bright colors should be avoided, especially for highly excitable children. It is believed that newborns for some time distinguish only black and white, after a while - red, yellow. Kids, regardless of gender, like warm, bright colors. In older people, the choice of color often depends on gender. Girls like pink, violet, lettuce, orange-yellow. For boys - purple, blue, brown, dark green. Adolescents of both sexes sometimes prefer black, which should be regarded as temporary.

Laminate flooring

When you design the space in one or another color, you should coordinate the color palette with the child.

Materials, finishing methods

Materials are selected environmentally friendly, mostly natural. They must comply with radiation safety certificates, not emit unpleasant odors, have a stable color, high wear resistance.

For wall decoration, paper wallpapers are suitable. If the child likes to paint on the walls, washable ones should be preferred, but vinyls do not allow air to pass through well. Wallpaper made of fabric, bamboo is more expensive, but more beautiful. Decorative gypsum-based plasters are preferable to those that do not have large particles of stone - they can be easily injured, and fabric fibers, wood shavings, dyes are quite acceptable. It’s even easier to paint the walls, depicting various fabulous scenes using stencils. Some companies sell paints specifically designed for children's rooms.

The floor is often made of planks, covered with varnish, paint, but should not slip.Laminate is laid on a soundproofing substrate - children have a habit of making a lot of noise, jumping, running, playing. In this regard, parquet, ceramic tiles are not suitable, due to instability to high loads. Natural stone is rarely used - it is excessively cold. Carpet - warm, soft, will last at least five years. Cork coating, natural linoleum are also used.

Desktop by the window

The ceiling is chosen strong, so that it would not be easy to damage, for example, by throwing the ball. The place on the ceiling where the horizontal bar is attached, the upper tier of the bunk bed, is carefully fixed separately. Over different zones, the ceiling is sometimes made in different colors, stretch with photo printing, plasterboard, using ceiling tiles, and ordinary whitewash. Windows, doors are preferably wooden, but other materials are also allowed - metal-plastic for window frames, MDF, fiberboard, stained glass - for doors.

The standard kit includes:

  • bed - single or one and a half, bunk or loft bed;
  • wardrobe;
  • dresser for linen;
  • shelving or shelves for books, crafts, toys;
  • table - written or computer;
  • chairs, stools - can come complete with a table or desk, preferably adjustable in height.

Furniture items should not have sharp corners - preference should be given to rounded ones. Sharply protruding drawer handles can also cause injury, so drawers with a special hole are selected to be taken by hand or opened with a light touch. Storage space for toys is often provided under the bed, in pull-out sections.

Transformable furniture - a wardrobe bed, an attic bed is convenient if there is very little space. During the day, the wardrobe-bed is folded, freeing up the playing space, a work desk and a sports corner are equipped under the loft bed. Topical materials for children's furniture - solid wood, fiberboard, MDF, metal, plywood, plastic.

Modern lighting - what is it?

There are several sources of light - natural sunny from the window, upper general, local above each zone. The entire area of the room should be lit. Illumination with a LED strip of a curly suspended ceiling develops imagination, at the bottom of the walls - it helps not to get lost during a night trip for water or to the toilet.

The workplace is located near the window, in the daytime illuminated by street light. A table lamp is placed above it on a stand, clothespin. If there are shelves nearby, the lamp on the bracket is mounted there. The floor lamp allocates a bedside zone, it is selected stable, the wires are hidden in such a way that it was impossible to trip over them. The play area is also covered separately.

Room for the newborn

For the first few months or even years of life, the child is practically inseparable from the mother, therefore, a sleeping place is provided for in the nursery. At the beginning of life, a little man often wakes up at night, because his bed is placed in the immediate vicinity of his mother. Some practice a joint night's sleep, then an adult bed is chosen one and a half. The cradle is not a mandatory attribute, but many purchase it for their own convenience.

The baby’s bedroom is designed mainly in gentle light colors - too dark colors can scare the baby. A changing table-chest of drawers will complement the interior. In the middle of the room there is a soft carpet, which should be easy to clean, wash in case of "childhood surprise".

A dressing room behind a screen or a wardrobe holds all the girl's outfits.The furniture is complemented by a large mirror with a dressing table. A “winter garden” is placed on the windowsill, with plants in clay pots, if the girl likes plants. The desktop is placed in the most lit corner, as is the place for needlework or reading. There should be enough space for morning exercises in the room.

It is advisable to equip a sports corner where the child can spend his energy, as well as separate places for study and a favorite hobby. The design of the space is preferably in the following color options:

  • blue gray with chocolate;
  • sky blue with purple;
  • beige brown with cream;
  • purple with blue-green;
  • sky blue with pearl white;

Room for two children

For two same-sex twin children, an almost completely symmetrical situation is quite suitable - if everything is the same for everyone, there will be less conflict. A bunk bed will delight children with a significant difference in age - the older one will sleep in the upper bunk. Each child’s working and sleeping place has its own light source - if one of them has already gone to bed, and the second is still engaged in lessons.

Room for two children

If one child is right-handed, the second is left-handed, their work tables are placed along the window or with the ends facing the window, "back to back" with respect to each other.For a right-handed child, light should fall on the left, for a left-handed person - on the right. If the table is one, but large, it is zoned with lamps, shelves or partitions, as in the office. Chairs for children of different ages acquire the same, but those that "grow with the child", adjustable in height.

When children are heterosexual, then everyone should allocate their own place for changing clothes, space for girls 'games in dolls, boys' games in cars. The color scheme of the space intended for children of different sexes is different in color, but in texture should be in harmony. Sections for storing toys, notebooks, personal items also do separate. In the presence of a double loft bed, a working area, clothing cabinets are placed under it.

Thematic design of rooms

Depending on the interests of the child, one of the walls is decorated with 3D murals with vivid pictures. For kids it can be canvases depicting fairy tales, heroes of your favorite cartoons. Teenagers will like cosmic open spaces, romantic landscapes, realistic animals, images of their favorite musicians. Such photowall-paper is chosen at a hardware store, the Internet, and printed on order at the nearest “copy center”, where there is large format printing.

For the girl, the bedroom is decorated under the "dollhouse", with fabulous ponies, pink princesses. For the boy, a marine, space theme, style for the cabin of an alien ship is suitable.
