The design of the kitchen space is a necessary stage of any repair. After all, the kitchen is not just one of the premises of the apartment, it is the workspace where the most important cooking operations are performed. And in the case of a standard apartment, the kitchen also serves as a dining room. Of course, the larger the room according to the plan of the apartment is allocated for the kitchen, the easier it is to make it convenient and, at the same time, aesthetically attractive. However, in planning the interior of a large kitchen you can make annoying mistakes that will make the use of this room not very convenient. That is why the correct design of the 13 sq. meters.

Variety of options

Design of modern kitchen with an area of 13 square meters. m is characterized by a variety of design options. In any case, it is necessary to start with the development of a general concept of the premises, as well as determining the location of the sink and, if necessary, the dishwasher.

Next, you need to determine the installation location of the refrigerator and stove. The most appropriate option would be to place the three main elements - sinks, stoves, and also the refrigerator - at a distance of 0.5 meters from each other. This arrangement will guarantee the most convenient handling of the necessary accessories during the cooking process.

White furniture in the kitchen

The most appropriate and convenient for a kitchen of 13 meters are the following layout options:

  • Single row, also called linear;
  • Two-row, or mirror layout;
  • Corner layout option;
  • U-shaped organization of space.

The choice of a specific variant of interior design depends both on one’s own preferences and on the particular layout of the apartment - the number and size of windows, the location of the front door, etc. The most traditional is a single-row layout of the kitchen.

In one row

A single-row design option is ubiquitous; it is one of the most popular types of design. It is typical for him to place the kitchen set in one row, along one of the walls. In this case, the dining area is organized along the opposite wall.

The advantages of this solution are obvious. Firstly, such an organization of space does not require significant material costs for remodeling the premises. Secondly, this placement option allows you to maximize the use of space. Thirdly, this option is great if you need to place a sufficiently large table or sofa in the dining area.

There are certain disadvantages to such a design.The main problem of the linear layout of the kitchen is the inability to form a “working triangle” between the stove, refrigerator, and sink. So the cooking process in such a kitchen will not be as convenient as possible. The second disadvantage is the need for a constantly free middle of the room - otherwise the cooking process will be very uncomfortable.

Parallel layout

A similar design of a typical kitchen of 13 square meters. suitable for narrow rooms when it is impossible to place all the necessary working elements along one wall. In this case, part of them is placed along the left wall, and part - along the opposite, right.

Usually, a sink and stove, as well as a work surface for cutting products, are placed on one side. On the other hand, with such a layout, a refrigerator, built-in oven, microwave and other small kitchen appliances are installed.

Kitchen with dining room

The advantage of this layout is the convenience of cooking, because the working elements make up a convenient triangle, they are all accessible to the cook, but at the same time they do not interfere.

Another plus of the double-row layout is the ability to rationally use the space near the window. In this design option, the “compartment” layout of the dining table would look very appropriate - just like a window opening, with two parallel rows of seats.

Color scheme

The single-row arrangement of furniture in the kitchen allows you to use a wide variety of colors and shades when decorating the interior. You can use both light, gentle tones - white, blue, cream, and deeper and brighter - black, red, brown. A single-row layout looks good when using elements of the loft style in the design of the kitchen, and when using extreme hi-tech or a gentle Provence style.

The combination of white and burgundy colors in the kitchen

When choosing a two-row layout, you need to be more careful when choosing a color scheme.After all, improperly selected colors can visually narrow an already wide room. At the same time, the right color selection is the key to creating a cozy atmosphere that emphasizes the dignity of the chosen interior.

With the parallel placement of kitchen furniture, it is better to give preference to light colors, without abusing extreme colors. This does not mean that you can not use red, black, white, or combinations thereof. However, it should be understood that the design of a two-row kitchen in such colors is possible only if the room is quite wide and bright. Otherwise, a cozy kitchen risks turning into a train compartment or a large closet.

Choosing a sofa. Straight or angled?

An area of thirteen square meters allows you to place a fairly large number of necessary furniture elements in the kitchen. A kitchen sofa is a very comfortable and also a stylish design element.

There are direct kitchen sofas, as well as more traditional corner sofas. Softs of other, more complex forms are much less common. In a standard kitchen, corner or small straight sofas look most appropriate. The choice of the shape of the sofa depends on the amount of free space in the kitchen and the particular arrangement of other furniture.

Soft kitchen design

The corner option is considered more practical, because several people can comfortably fit on it. In addition, using the corner sofa it is very easy to visually separate the dining area - just put a dining table of a suitable shape near the sofa. At the same time, it is more difficult to place it so as not to block the passage and, at the same time, not to create discomfort for those sitting on it.

A straight sofa takes up less space, it is not necessary to put it in a corner - in this regard it is more universal than a corner. However, choosing this type of sofa design requires additional chairs or stools next to the dining table.

Sofa seating

Whatever version of the sofa is preferred, it must be correctly placed.With the right approach to placement, it will not take up too much space and will not interfere, and also perfectly fit into the interior, giving the kitchen additional notes of comfort.

First of all, the sofa should be at a sufficient distance from the front door. So he will not block the passage.

At the same time, it is necessary to make sure that the sofa is far enough from the working area of the kitchen room - this is not only a question of interior, but, first of all, safety, especially if a gas stove, rather than an electric stove, is installed in the kitchen.

Bamboo on the walls of the kitchen

The sofa should not be located back to the window opening. After all, otherwise he will not only block the daylight - sitting on a sofa set in this way will not be too comfortable.

It is advisable to choose corners and other places to install the sofa where it will not interfere with movement. A practical option is to install a sofa under the wall cabinets, but this solution has certain disadvantages. Firstly, overhanging designs do not contribute much to comfort. Secondly, access to the contents of the lockers in this case will be somewhat difficult.

Kitchen with balcony

If the kitchen has access to the balcony, an excellent option would be to combine both rooms, previously glazing and warming the balcony. This will achieve two goals at once - increasing the space and creating a separate dining area.

Bar counter in the kitchen

In this version of the interior, a dining table and a small but comfortable sofa are installed on the balcony, or, if the area allows, two small sofas - on both sides of the table. The dining area is separated by a bar counter, or simply stands out with a different color of walls and style of decoration. A plus of this solution is an increase in the area of the kitchen and a visual separation of the dining area.

However, this method is good if the apartment has another balcony. In the opposite case, the combination of the kitchen and the balcony does not look too appropriate.The best way would be to install a sliding door on most of the wall and place on the balcony a small, possibly folding, table and several comfortable chairs. This will preserve the functionality of the balcony and increase the free space of the kitchen.

Kitchen-living room - for small apartments

The combination of the kitchen and the living room in one room is an excellent option if the room is not large in size. Indeed, the absence of a wall between the rooms visually increases the living room, makes it lighter and more spacious. Yes, and such a solution looks very attractive, you only need to adhere to several rules for the design of premises.

In the kitchen combined with the living room, there must be a cooking zone visually separated from the rest of the space. You can use for these purposes the decoration with a different texture and color material, arrange a bar counter or fence off the space with the help of kitchen furniture.

Another option is to design the premises in a different style. The utilitarian kitchen, dominated by metal and plastic, and a cozy living room with a predominance of soft natural materials, are not emphasized, even in the absence of a wall.

The second option is to combine the kitchen and the living room. Such a solution will be successful if the total area of the premises is large enough. Both the kitchen and the living room are decorated in the same style and in the same color scheme, but the space with the stove is separated by a massive table with a built-in sink, a counter with a built-in hob or, if the means and dimensions of the rooms allow, a fireplace or an open hearth with an extractor fan.

Color separation

If such options look costly, you can divide the room by contrasting colors. The living area and bright kitchen decorated with materials of dark colors and natural colors look very advantageous.An equally successful option would be to design a kitchen in the loft style - with elements of unfinished brickwork, the predominance of mixed colors and shades, combined with the living room, which is dominated by simple and light colors, elegant, but not elaborate, furniture, light curtains and curtains.

White carpet in front of the sofa

The widespread use of artificial stone imitating marble or other natural materials in the kitchen area will also help. The monumentality and coldness of this material will perfectly emphasize the coziness and comfort of the living area.

The third option is to use absolutely identical materials similar in style to furniture and accessories, which differ exclusively in color. For example, the “cream” kitchen area will contrast with the living room decorated in natural wood, visually separating them.

Furniture for combined kitchen with living room

Furniture should also serve as a zoning studio space combined with the living room of the kitchen. In the living room, it is justified to use furniture with a lot of soft elements. Separation of rooms is best done using a rack or a special U-shaped pedestal. Complemented with tall stools, it can serve as a dining table, which saves space.

Bright furniture in the kitchen

If the kitchen studio is separated from the living room by a bar, a fireplace or a fireplace, and the design of the two rooms is made in the same style, an interesting solution would be to use identical elements in the kitchen and living room furniture. It can be the same or similar in style decorative inserts made of metal, wood or other material, the use of materials of absolutely identical texture, or the equipping of both rooms with furniture with similar graphic upholstery elements.

In general, there are a lot of ideas for designing a standard thirteen meter kitchen. Loft and kitchen-studio, one- or two-row design, combined with a balcony or separated by partitions of the room - with the correct distribution of furniture, any version of the kitchen will be stylish and convenient for residents.
