Kitchen design in the country: ideas and tips

Kitchen design in the country

Cottage - a temporary, most often summer house in the wilderness, which owners visit only during certain seasons of the year. People come here for different purposes. Some cannot live without a calm, leisurely outdoor recreation in the summer: reading books in the gazebo, picking berries in the forest, barbecue on weekends in the backyard, going to the sauna and swimming in the river. For others, the garden season begins and the time of endless preservation of blanks for the winter. Be that as it may, the cottage, although not the main house, must meet all the requirements for a comfortable stay. Her room kit consists of the same rooms as an ordinary apartment: a bedroom, a living room, a nursery, a kitchen, a sanitary zone.

Some owners even move the cooking room out of the house. Summer kitchens are popular with those who spend a lot of time cooking and canning, which can adversely affect adjacent rooms. Kitchen design in the country can be independently created and implemented with your own hands. For summer houses, easy directions with rustic colors and “grandmother's” details in the interior are ideal. We will talk about how to furnish a country kitchen and what style will transform it.

Arrangement, equipment and features of the layout of the country kitchen

Before you start creating a design project, you need to decide on the layout of the kitchen. In this case, we have a choice of five options for the arrangement of furniture. All of them are based on the principle of the working triangle. The stove, refrigerator and sink should be its tops. This is done solely for the convenience of the hostess and to save her time when moving.

Kitchen in a country house

If the summer house is small, and the kitchenette is also small, then in its cramped spaces you can realize the L-shaped, linear or parallel layout. In the first case, the working surface occupies two adjacent walls and the angle between them. With a linear layout, the entire headset is located strictly on one plane. A parallel arrangement provides for the placement of furniture along two opposite walls. If the room is so small that there is no room for maneuver at all, then you should think about combining it with the living room. In this case, you can apply a luxurious design technique - an island layout. In it, the working area, together with the hob, and sometimes the sink, protrudes into the “open ocean” of the hall. U-shaped layout is used in medium-sized rooms. Traditionally, the countertop or sink are located under one of the windows, and the entire set captures three walls at once.

Kitchen without cupboards

Most often, in the cottages they implement the combined “kitchen-dining” option, so it’s worth allocating a place for the dining area.As for equipment, here it should be exactly the same as in the apartment, with one small exception. If outdoor activities involve harvesting and rolling them into cans, you will have to slightly “strengthen” the culinary zone. The stove needs to be bought with more burners than in a regular one. This is necessary in order to cook several dishes for lunch at the same time, sterilize cans and conjure over a fragrant brew for the winter. By the way, salads and preserves are brought in large portions to condition in large bowls, and in some recipes the container with them must be additionally boiled in hot water using large-sized pans.

Scandinavian style

Under these processes, it is better to highlight a separate two-burner stove or stove. Unfortunately, such culinary procurement witchcraft is problematic to create in small spaces. You may have to attend to the construction of a separate closed summer kitchen or its primitive version with open walls.

When combining with other rooms, be sure to use the zoning rules. This, at least partially, will help protect another room from the aggressive kitchen microclimate, which at the dacha becomes even “angrier” due to constant canning, steam curtains and corrosive smells of brine or jam.

Popular stylistic solutions

The cottage does not impose any restrictions on the choice of style of the interior solution, but there is a line of directions that are especially popular. I want to design a summer house easily, carelessly and with a touch of color in the depths. This list includes:

French provenceThe style was especially fond of in the camp, where people say "see Paris and die." Airy interiors with the use of aged furniture, numerous decorative elements and cute floral patterns will allow you to recreate the unique atmosphere of the French heartland in the country.
RussianA colorful direction in which carvings are used, colorful rugs, towels and tablecloths with embroidery and old furniture made by hand. The house itself looks like a wooden hut traditional for Russia.
CountryThe direction appeared in the USA and represents the ethnic style of the American village. In country, as in Russian interiors, an abundance of wood, wrought iron elements, a two-tone checkered box in textiles and rough furniture are used.

Of course, not only village trends are embodied in the cottages. Elite summer houses can be decorated in accordance with the canons of modern, Japanese, colonial, Scandinavian, classic styles, which will bring them closer to the status of a chic suburban cottage. Luxuriously looks country Art Nouveau and Art Deco.

Classical

The classic-style kitchen is decorated in pastel brown colors. As the main shade, light tones are chosen: ivory, coffee with milk, walnut, beige. The facades of the headset are decorated with relief moldings imitating stucco molding, and the windows are covered with luxurious Roman curtains. On the walls there are always paintings or reliefs, and in the atmosphere it is assumed that there is a place for a miniature statue. The furniture has smooth, smooth bending lines, and the ceiling is crowned by a dimensional crystal chandelier with numerous curly details. Such a kitchen is not conducive to canning, so summer fun is necessarily transferred to the summer in a separate room in a more relaxed and homely atmosphere.

Provence

White reigns in Provence. This color is used as a background against which delicate shades of lilac, pink, blue, turquoise, olive, and mustard play. In decoration, wallpaper in a small flower is usually used. Curtains and a tablecloth are decorated with a similar pattern. Furniture is desirable to use the old "grandmother."It is artificially ennobled with the help of light paint and decoupage technique, which organically blends into the style. Among the decorative elements, numerous vases, plates on stands, caskets are preferred.

The kitchen is necessarily decorated with indoor plants and freshly cut bouquets from their own flower beds, to a greater extent for the purpose of raising the mood, and not to emphasize the features of the interior.

Country

The country-style kitchen is decorated in brown tones. This color is characteristic of wood, of which most interior elements are made. A massive, roughly processed table with a smooth stone countertop is placed in the dining area. Attached are wicker chairs with soft plaid cushions on the seats. On the ceiling during decoration, you can leave the supporting beams, which will alternate with white plaster, as in the style of a chalet. Furniture, too, is chosen old with numerous flaws in the surfaces. The walls are decorated with plaques typical of the Texas “notice board”. Finished wood is sometimes alternated with brickwork. A wrought iron chandelier hanging from the ceiling completes the interior picture.

What should be the furniture

Most styles encourage the use of old-fashioned or aged furniture. Of course, do not decorate the kitchen with expensive antiques. Any unnecessary cabinet or table can always be ennobled. To do this, the upper layer of cracked paint is scraped off and the surface is painted again. Then, as an addition, you can apply original drawings to the surface, decorate it with eggshell, fabric, accessories. Of course, for the classic style, they choose new elegant furniture, but the less demanding Provence and country will easily take the grandmother's buffet into the interior. If the kitchen is planned seasonal cooking and canning from morning to evening, then this decision makes practical sense.Indeed, under the constant influence of steam and temperature changes, any material will quickly become unusable, and it is not a pity to throw away an old cabinet or table, unless of course it is a “family heirloom”.

Choose between stove and stove

It would seem that the struggle between the stove and the stove has long been lost last, and yet it continues to "live" in the village interiors. A modern unit that runs on gas or electricity is more convenient to use. All that is required of the hostess is to turn the switch or ignite the gas in the burner. The stove will have to be melted (it can take half a day for a beginner) to clean the ash after two or three uses, systematically subject it to total cleaning, harvest and chop wood. Yes, this unit is really inextricably linked with a whole mass of additional troubles, but they fade in comparison with the unique aroma of the food prepared on it. If you also use themed utensils (pots and glaziers), then the dishes will turn out even tastier. In addition, the stove has a large cooking surface, which is indispensable for large-scale culinary battles and canning.

Materials used for decoration

In traditional ethnic styles, the kitchen can be finished cheaply and even using improvised materials. The walls are lined with wooden panels or lined with lining, and polished boards on the logs are laid on the floor. The ceiling is sometimes generally left in its original form with beams, as some interiors only welcome such a decision (chalet, country). It can also be coated with light-colored plaster - a simple and practical option.

It is not recommended to paste over the kitchen with ordinary paper wallpaper, it is better to use special washable models. In more expensive interiors, tiles are used to finish the apron and floor. This material is strong and durable, not sensitive to household chemicals and temperature extremes. In the loft, brickwork is used.Art Nouveau, minimalism and castle style gravitate towards natural stone. The most durable coating option at the moment is considered to be a bulk floor. Its installation will cost a pretty penny, but you can forget about replacing the surface for many years. Parquet and laminate are recommended to be left for decoration of other rooms and replaced with more practical linoleum with a neat pattern.

Kitchen palette

In the kitchen, it is advisable to use light shades and warm colors. This room is often combined with a dining area, which means that the atmosphere should stimulate appetite. Psychologists have long proved that surrounded by blue, green or purple tones, the desire to eat is lost. In small kitchens, a light palette will also help to visually expand the space. The prevailing tone is chosen from shades of white, pastel colors and variations of brown. Peach, pink, wine, mustard, terracotta, coral, yellow will sparkle with their new colors. Of course, it is permissible to use light tones of the cold gamut, but in strictly dosed quantities: lilac, blue, turquoise, lime, olive.

Conclusion

Do not forget about lighting. Be sure to have not only the central ceiling chandelier, but also local appliances that will help illuminate the dining area or worktop. Winning country options are considered village styles. And not only because they are the most economical in terms of the purchase of finishing materials and furniture. These styles embody the idea of relaxation in the outback, with their atmosphere even more distance the person from the noise of cars, urban dirt and the chronic “smack” of smog in the air. In such interiors, you can head off to rest, feel like a resident of a remote village and enjoy all the charms of his life. For some, avoiding the benefits of civilization is unacceptable, but for others it will become a pleasant and useful experiment.
