Kitchen design in the apartment

The design of the kitchen in the apartment and its development is a multi-stage process, including design, selection of materials for the implementation of the plan, decoration of the room, its design and decorative “polishing”. The front of the work is impressive, but with a competent approach, the result will be appropriate. The kitchen is a special room in the house. It is equipped in such a way that cooking from the daily service turns into a pleasant process, and the hostess draws culinary inspiration from the room’s atmosphere. Most modern kitchens are combined with dining rooms. Previously, this design move was a necessity to save space, but recently it has become a fashionable and stylish solution. Absolutely all family members visit the kitchen at least three times a day, this is without taking into account unscheduled afternoon snacks and evening tea parties. In addition to gatherings in the living room, guests will also come to this room for refreshments or a gala dinner.The kitchen is made out in two ways:

  • Create decoration in the style that is chosen to design the entire apartment as the main one;
  • They design a separate room outside the general design concept, which will "live" according to its own laws.

The kitchen at the subconscious level evokes associations with the home. This is a kind of “memory of the ancestors”, because earlier in this room the stove was heated, which heated the whole house, allowed to cook and created a feeling of unique comfort. Now the placement is not like a stove, even a fireplace in the kitchen is not considered appropriate, and a sense of comfort is achieved by other methods.

Top Kitchen Styles

The loft style kitchen is a combination of "old with new." It successfully combines brick or plastered walls with a modern "filling" of the room. Communication pipes are displayed, and materials use stone, wood and metal. The loft is suitable for spacious rooms with high ceilings, as if they were intended for industrial use before. But in small kitchens, the flavor of the style will be lost and “eat” the extra square meters.

The Provence style kitchen interior is characterized as an imitation of lovely antiquity. The style has a touch of romanticism and naivety. It uses an abundance of wooden furniture and natural light. Typically, kitchens with the colors of the French hinterland are decorated in private country houses, since even during construction they install spacious windows in the room. This style can be safely attributed to the budget, as it uses "grandmother" furniture.It is enough to slightly refine and decorate it with vases with compositions of wildflowers, colorful curtains, a tablecloth with an ornament. The decoration design is also simple. In Provence, natural materials are used (wood is a priority) with a rough texture. For wall decoration, a wallpaper of a delicate color in a cute flower is suitable. Of the shades, warm colors are preferred.

Kitchen in the style of minimalism is made out on the principle of "nothing more." Only the necessary elements, which often perform several functions at once. In minimalism there is no place for trifles and decor. Crockery, pots and other kitchen utensils are hidden behind closed cabinet doors, and large forms come to the fore. The color scheme is chosen according to the concept of contrasts. Usually in a minimalistic kitchen there are white, black and gray colors. The palette is the most restrained and strict.

The classic kitchen seems to breathe luxury and elegance. It uses a large number of stucco, decorative elements, crystal and reflective surfaces. A classic room tends to symmetry, which should be considered when choosing a furniture set. Of the flowers, preference is given to light shades. Bright accents are allowed only against the background of white furniture. By the way, thanks to such color neutrality, the classic kitchen does not bother and for many years will delight the owners' eyes without requiring repair. Natural wood is chosen from the materials.

A high-tech style kitchen combines a simple but expensive finish with high technology. Direction prefers artificial light, the abundance of which is provided on several levels at once. Only one color prevails in the room, which is shaded by several calm tones. Gray, black and white symbolize practicality and "sophisticated simplicity."

Art Nouveau or new art in the design of the kitchen is embodied with the help of wavy lines.Sharp corners in this style fall under the taboo. Smoothness can be seen everywhere: in the decor, structural elements and even the decoration of the premises. Also in the style there are floral ornaments, mosaic patterns, paintings. Distantly, Art Nouveau resembles the classics that were beaten in a “new way”.

Color palette

When choosing a color scheme, they resort to four classic options for combining shades:

  • Contrast Two primary colors are chosen in it, which are in different “temperature” sections on the spectral circle. They are complemented by one or two shades;
  • Solid color. The main color is shaded by its nearest neighbors in the spectrum. The tone picture is very calm. This concept is also called monochrome. Choose either cold or warm shades;
  • The principle of similarity. With it, the main color and two shades are selected, which are from it at an angle of about 15-20 degrees in the spectrum. It is important that they both be equidistant from the pitch;
  • Accent combination. Four colors appear in it: the main, its two shades and bright tone. The latter is chosen on the basis of contrast with the main "hero" of the composition.

Any of the presented color concepts is universal and suitable for all types of rooms, and the kitchen is no exception.

Light green walls in the interior

A priori, the kitchen should be "warm." Even in elegant or austere apartments it is necessary to maintain home comfort, and not museum “coldness”. For this reason, it is not recommended to abuse shades with "low temperature". Cold tones will affect the culinary mood of the hostess and the appetite of the household.

Flower psychology

The psychology of color is a complex “science”, the study of which was spent a lot of effort by psychologists, marketers, sociologists. Color imperceptibly and accurately affects the human brain. At the subconscious level, he can induce him to something, raise his mood, cause apathy, provoke an excited state or aggression.The Taoist practice of organizing space and selecting colors for specific rooms is engaged in an in-depth study of the effects of shades on the human psyche. Feng Shui helps to equip the living room so that the people living in it feel harmony. White is associated with innocence. A blank sheet of paper is a symbolic "door" to the world of new opportunities. White shirts are put on to impress, and festive tables are covered with the same tablecloths. This color prevails in medical institutions, and the "guests" of hospitals, as you know, need peace. His most implacable opponent is black. In humans, it causes controversial associations. It symbolizes night, twilight, evil, death and negativity. Although there is not a single person who does not have dark things in the wardrobe. They always look stylish and elegant. A similar touch of rigor brings black to the interior. He copes with the task of the background, on which other components of the room's color palette “play”.

Yellow and white kitchen interior in the apartment

Red symbolizes action, activity, passion, challenge and even aggression. This color always attracts attention and excites the mind. For this reason, it can not be used in rooms that should tune in a calm mood. Green is considered the color of nature, youth, freshness, health, peace, grass and tree crowns. Its natural shades help create a cozy atmosphere in the kitchen. Blue refers to cold colors, however, most of the inhabitants of the Earth, he is a favorite. Best of all, this tone creates a relaxed atmosphere that is conducive to communication. How many have wondered why most social networks have blue logos? Because he acts as a guarantor of "heart-to-heart talk." For the kitchen, blue and its nearest shade - blue are rarely suitable. They do not contribute to appetite and set up excessive relaxation.As the main motive of the marine theme, blue is associated with relaxation, so it is added to sleeping compositions.

Yellow acts as a symbol of the sun, optimism, joy and activity. It belongs to warm shades, so it suits the kitchen perfectly. Yellow walls or headsets will not only look beautiful, but also tune in a positive way. Violet is associated with religious sacrament, luxury, and even a slight “foreignness”. The fact is that in nature this color is very rare. In the interior of the kitchen, purple looks only as an accent. Pink means youth, tenderness and lightness (this is similar to white). This color is preferred for creating “soft”, romantic interiors. Brown, many unknowingly associate with spring dirt, ugliness and something outdated, surviving from fashion. In fact, this color is simply underestimated, because it is also a symbol of fallen leaves, tree trunks and fertile land. Brown is able to create a warm, cozy room in which anyone can feel comfortable. Gray is the result of a combination of two spectral opponents: white and black. It belongs to neutral colors, which are suitable for those who love simplicity and modesty. Orange is an intermediate between yellow and red. He is considered a model of extravagance and energy. Many of the things that we call red actually have an orange color: bonfire fire, sunset.

Unpleasant associations arise with “dirty” shades of yellow. These tones symbolize betrayal, lies, madness. Choose clean, rich tones.

Kitchen color adjustment

Typical Khrushchev usually has small kitchens. Many people believe that the lack of space allows only an economical option in the design. Room sizes can be beaten with color. This is a real way to hide its shortcomings and increase your dignity. As a result, the room will seem larger than it actually is.Use warm shades in wall decoration:

  • Pink;
  • Light yellow;
  • Peach;
  • Beige.

The floor can be decorated with the natural color of light wood, and the top is left white. This will allow you to stretch the space if the ceilings are too low. To expand the kitchen on light wallpaper, horizontal stripes are used. They can act as a decorative element, a dividing zone between two different types of finishes from the bottom and top. Spacious kitchens and more opportunities. They can be easily designed according to the principle of contrasts and not be afraid of cold shades or dark tones.

Finish options

The specificity of the microclimate of the kitchen determines the selection of special finishing materials. They must withstand temperature extremes and high humidity. In addition, the coating will often have to be cleaned, because no matter how good the hood is, the coating of “fat” will still form over time. To get a combination of decorative and operational qualities, types of finishing materials are combined among themselves in different conditional areas of the kitchen. With the wrong selection of coverage, it will quickly become worthless and will have to deal with re-repairing the room.

Flooring

The flooring is selected from the materials presented below:

  • Linoleum. It is unpretentious in leaving, imitates any texture and for the price belongs to the most budget materials;
  • Cork coating. Hypoallergenic, natural material. Pleasantly "springy" underfoot, which allows you to walk on it barefoot. It repels dust and is easy to clean;
  • Laminate. Imitates any kind of wood, easy to clean;
  • Parquet board. Sensitive to moisture and temperature changes. The kitchen is mainly used for finishing the dining area;
  • Bulk floor. Durable, durable and has a seamless structure. Allows you to design a floor with three-dimensional drawings or panoramas;
  • Ceramic tile. It is considered a traditional floor covering.It is easy to clean, not sensitive to household chemicals, successfully withstands all the vagaries of the kitchen microclimate, but from severe shocks it can crack;
  • Porcelain tile. Unlike tiles, it is shockproof and easily tolerates high humidity and changes in temperature. It has a high cost.

Ceiling decoration

When decorating the ceiling, they are guided by the budget and style of the room. Finishing materials are selected from the standard list:

  • Whitewash. A simple and affordable way to finish the ceiling. Unfortunately, whitewashing does not tolerate humidity well, therefore, it will require frequent updating of the coating;
  • Wallpaper. An unconventional option that is difficult to implement. Heavy wallpaper can hardly stay on the ceiling until the glue dries completely. Gluing the rolls is exactly difficult, so you need an assistant who will lead the process, observing it from the side;
  • Painting. The traditional method that was actively used in the design of kitchens in the last century. The paint is easy to clean, but over time it will crack and lose its “salable” appearance; it will have to be updated every couple of years;
  • Plastic. It is referred to as economical options. The material is easy to install and will withstand even flooding from neighbors from above. In case of damage to a separate part of the coating, local repair is allowed;
  • Drywall. Its installation is sometimes fraught with complexity, but the material allows you to embody the most daring design fantasies. From drywall create multi-level ceilings;
  • Rack material. For the kitchen, models with closed seams are used, since otherwise dirt will accumulate in the “gutters”. Its installation is akin to the assembly of the designer;
  • Stretch ceiling. Finishing will be carried out with the involvement of the master, which is associated with additional costs. The material has no seams, hides surface defects, easy to clean.

Wall decoration

The following materials are used for wall decoration:

  • PVC panels.They are easy to clean, easy to clean, but may not withstand too high temperatures. Sensitivity to mechanical damage, pays off for their low cost;
  • Tile (artificial and natural). Versatile, durable material that withstands all tests of the atmosphere of the kitchen. Panel design easily adapts to different stylistic decisions;
  • Brick. Shock-resistant, provides high-quality sound and heat insulation. Differs in cheapness, but without additional decoration is suitable only for a narrow group of styles;
  • Wallpaper. For the kitchen, you can only use special, heavy-duty options (vinyl). Allow to embody any design fantasies;
  • Wooden lining. Easy to install, relatively inexpensive. The material must necessarily undergo processing with special substances that will increase resistance to decay processes;
  • Decorative plaster. Allows you to hide flaws and wall defects. With its help, you can repeat any texture;
  • A rock. Durable, does not contribute to the growth of bacteria, easy to clean. Of the shortcomings, only the high cost of natural material is noted.

Recently, cork panels have become fashionable. They are safe for human health, absorb noise and retain heat.

There is another option for decorative wall decoration - mosaic. She will give the room a certain zest. Moreover, the design type is suitable for all styles, because there are a lot of variations. Even for solid high-tech use mirror pieces in the form of squares.

Protective apron

A protective apron is usually designed as an accent. It differs from the rest of the wall decoration with the performance material, color and pattern. To design a kitchen apron, the following materials are used:

  • Ceramic tile. Classical material, which is used both in one color and with drawings;
  • A rock. Effective and stylish design;
  • Glass. Used hardened material.Such aprons are usually made to order;
  • Mosaic. Allows you to create complex compositions;
  • Porcelain tile. Heavy-duty material, which includes coloring pigments, silicates, silica sand and two types of clay. Able to simulate any texture. It has a high cost;
  • Wooden panels. Gradually become a thing of the past, as this material in the kitchen is replaced by more durable analogues;
  • Mirror apron. It is carried out in three cables: panels, mosaics and tiles. Such material is not afraid of moisture, nor temperature, nor fungus;
  • Steel. Ideal for high-tech kitchens. Celebrate its strength and durability. Seamless metal sheet will become a stylish design element. It looks especially impressive with backlight;
  • Brick. Suitable for the line of "industrial" styles. A ceramic tile mimicking brickwork is considered a successful combination. It has many color variations.

Kitchen space organization

Movements in the kitchen are cyclical in nature: putting food into the refrigerator, processing, cooking, washing dishes, transferring the rest of the meal to a storage place. For this reason, the main conditions for the proper organization of space: the absence of obstacles to these repeated actions and the convenient location of the most visited places.

Layout Types

When planning the kitchen, you need to decide on the option based on the “golden triangle” rule, when the washing zone, hob and refrigerator are located at a distance of 60 to 300 cm from each other. There are several ways to arrange furniture in the kitchen:

  • Linear layout. Furniture is placed along one wall;
  • Parallel. Elements of furniture are located along two opposite walls;
  • Corner layout. The furniture is placed near two walls that are adjacent;
  • Island. A stove and a washing zone are arranged in the middle of the kitchen (the permissible size of the room is at least 25 sq.m.).

Zoning of the kitchen-living room

Owners of two-room apartments find it easier to fit all the necessary areas into the housing: bedroom, living room, dining room and kitchen. Now so-called studios are increasingly found. The practice of using one large room for living came to us from Europe. In the studio apartment, the kitchen and dining area are conventionally placed together. Naturally, space needs to be delimited. There are several options:

  • By the light. The intermediate area between the zones is highlighted, creating the illusion of a conditional border;
  • Color. Both functional areas are designed in the same style, but using different tinting bases;
  • Decorative ceilings. Arches or false walls will serve as the obvious dividers in the room;
  • "Steps" on the ceiling or floor;
  • The furniture. As a basis for zoning, “through” racks or bar racks can act;
  • Mobile partitions. Most often, screens are used for these purposes. They are easy to clean if necessary, but do not recommend using fabric partitions in the kitchen, as the material will absorb odors.

Kitchen with balcony

The kitchen, which has access to a balcony or a loggia, can be "continued" due to this additional space. The window and door between them are dismantled, and the partition is made out under the bar counter or demolished. This practice is relevant for small kitchens with an area of up to 8 sq m. If the owners are also forced to combine it with the dining room, then the latter can be completely transferred to the balcony. In this case, the countertop is used "longitudinal" under the wall, and the chairs are placed in a line, as in a cafe. During the meal, homemade people can enjoy the views from the window and feel slightly detached, but such a design has become fashionable lately. An ordinary balcony can turn into a stylish pantry for storing food or a separate recreation area where the hostess will spend breaks between household chores.

Lighting

The kitchen uses complex combinations of light sources.They not only allow you to cook or eat in a comfortable environment, but also emphasize the dignity of decoration. There are several lighting options that are being developed at the design stage:

  • The ceiling chandelier is complemented by lamps around the perimeter of the room. This option will illuminate all the most remote corners of the room;
  • The main light source is combined with LEDs. Usually they are placed in the area of the apron, so that the housewife would be more comfortable working;
  • The main light is combined with decorative furniture lighting. The latter will emphasize the design features. The main effect is achieved due to glare and reflection of light on the surface of the headset. Usually this way of organizing lighting gives the kitchen a touch of elegance.

Naturally, in addition to generally accepted methods, the owner can independently come up with a unique option.

The choice of textiles and decor

Textiles are considered the main decorative element that brings comfort to the room. In the kitchen made of fabric:

  • Curtains;
  • Tablecloths;
  • Aprons
  • Towels and napkins;
  • Grips and caps for teapots;
  • Covers for chairs.

Textiles in the kitchen in the apartment

Depending on the characteristics of the fabric, three types are distinguished:

  • Natural. Natural materials are also made. Resistant to fading;
  • Synthetic. It quickly becomes worthless (loses its shape, fades). Rarely used in the kitchen;
  • Combined type. It combines the advantages of natural materials and eliminates the disadvantages of synthetics.

kitchen furniture with built-in fridge

For the kitchen, they choose textiles that can "survive" numerous washings and at the same time not lose their shape and beautiful appearance. This room has a high concentration of various odors that will be absorbed by the tissue, along with particles of fat.

Conclusion

Kitchen design is developed independently or attract a specialist. If you decide to test your talents as a designer, then study the main features of the style that will be embodied in this room.Any space can be competently beat and turn its shortcomings into unique features. It is enough to connect your imagination and approach the matter from a creative point of view. Only in this case, the kitchen will become not just a functional room, but also the “central node” of the apartment, where home and guests will be happy to gather.
