Design ideas for a relaxation room in a bathhouse

Design a relaxation room in the bath

The bathhouse allows you to equip a full-fledged wellness complex on your private site. Buildings were erected in the time of Ancient Russia. At that time, the bathhouses were not particularly cared for, it was much more important to take a steam bath and wash after a working week. Although tradition has relentlessly followed this construction, now the attitude towards design has changed a lot. With the independent construction of the building at its initial stages, the design of the relaxation room in the bathhouse fades into the background. The correct communication, the choice of the furnace and the arrangement of the steam room are much more important issues. After the main work is completed, at the final stage they begin to think about the rest room. The room acts as an “application” to the steam room. Their “duet” provides a complete rest: in one they sweat and heal the body, and in the other they gradually cool down and spend leisure time in parallel.The relaxation room should accommodate more people than the steam room. While one part of the company will haunt each other with brooms on the sides, the rest can wait their turn in comfort: having a cup of tea with crackling firewood in the fireplace or watching TV. Let's talk in more detail about exactly how to equip this important bathhouse and what mistakes should be avoided.

The main recommendations for the design of the lounge

First of all, finishing materials must meet the following requirements:

  • Do not contain metal parts. The bathhouse always deals with high temperatures, so the material falls under the taboo, as it is very hot. Just one careless movement and rest will be spoiled by burns.
  • Be moisture resistant. Naturally, the rest room does not come in contact with the steam room, between them there is always a buffer zone in the form of a dressing room or pool. Accordingly, increased humidity does not threaten this room. However, no one is safe from force majeure, therefore, they do not recommend using materials sensitive to humidity to finish this room. Of wood, larch is considered the most reliable. It is not only not damaged by moisture, but also hardens upon contact with it.

The interior of the relaxation room in the bath

Also, the room should be well ventilated. Of course, the structure itself can be built of brick, but it is better to use natural materials. The beam will become optimal. Wood is environmentally friendly and will allow to embody the traditional ideas of the Russian style in the exterior and interior of the structure.The dimensions of the bath room are determined depending on the dimensions of the structure itself. The minimum area is 10 sq.m. Professional designers are rarely attracted to the development of interior decoration, since the arrangement is usually taken into their own hands.

Stone tile on the wall

It is imperative to provide for:

  • Hooks for drying towels and bathrobes;
  • Places for storing personal items;
  • A mirror to help guests clean themselves up.

Also, the relaxation room cannot be cluttered with furniture or decor, the passage should remain free. The rule "in cramped, but not offended" in this case does not work.

Zoning Features

A room usually has three areas:

  • Cooking area;
  • Dinner Zone. It occupies the largest area, as it is designed for full-fledged feasts, without which the broad “Russian soul” is usually not complete;
  • Area for a relaxing holiday.

Zoning the relaxation room in the bath

If the bathhouse is designed to receive large companies, then one of the guests will be uncomfortable to lie down and sleep, while the rest are celebrating or making noise. In this case, a separate corner with a deck chair or sofa is fenced off from the rest of the room with textiles. Curtains, if necessary, will create the illusion of protection. In other cases, zoning is thought out in advance, and even at the construction stage, a partition wall is erected. The kitchen from the dining area is optimally separated by a bar counter or a wide countertop. A fireplace with a central location will also do a good job.

Beams on the ceiling

A variety of materials for decorative finishes

(wall, floor, ceiling decoration)

Decorative decoration of the room is made of various materials:

  • Tile. Ceramics is relevant in Roman baths (terms). It is laid out on floors or lined with walls. Tiles are combined with thematic decorative elements: amphorae, mosaic paintings, statues in niches, columns or pilasters, arched vaults. Mostly majolica is used, with various patterns, coated with glaze.
  • Lining.Suitable for more unpretentious interiors. The material organically fits into country, Provence, Russian style.
    • Wallpaper. They are not used very often, since only reliable, moisture-resistant options are suitable for the rest room.
  • Drywall. It is applied even less often than wallpaper. It is necessary to create frames of complex reliefs on the ceiling, floor and walls.
  • Natural brick or stone. The material will last more than one year. Absolutely immune to high humidity. To balance the "cold" that comes from the coating, it is recommended to put a fireplace in the room.
  • Porcelain tile. Durable and reliable option, which seamlessly blends into the "noble" design.

The tree in the decoration of the relaxation room in the bath

The box of the room can be painted, plastered, covered with artificial PVC panels, stone or brick, but these options will accidentally deteriorate if they accidentally come into contact with an aggressive microclimate of a steam room. Owners usually prefer not to take risks. From natural wood choose:

  • Oak. Disinfects air, protects walls from mold;
  • Alder. Similar in characteristics to oak;
  • Lipu. The material is characterized by a pleasant honey aroma that will help create a relaxing atmosphere in the room;
  • Cedar. It releases microparticles of oils into the air that smell delicious and have a calming effect;
  • Aspen. A natural antiseptic that, over time, will retain its shape and does not warp;
  • Ash. Known for its pleasant, delicate color and original pattern on slices;
  • Pine tree. Practical and inexpensive wood will spread coniferous aroma in the room, but over time it may release tarry droplets on the surface.

TV over the fireplace

Linoleum, tile or sheet pile are usually laid on the floor. The latter are polished to a shine, so their surface is not fraught with troubles in the form of splinter for the bare heels of guests. In more expensive embodiments, a bulk floor is used. Lounge with a similar finish corresponds to the canons of elite styles. The ceiling is plastered, painted or clad with clapboard.

For the floor, it is not recommended to use a laminate or parquet board. In contact with moisture, they can swell and become unusable.

Color spectrum

Traditionally prefer all shades of brown. This color is characteristic of wood, which is the basis for the decoration of a rustic antique bathhouse and a modern sauna. It will be possible to rest morally only in a room that is decorated in soothing colors. They do not force the eyes to strain once again and psychologically relax. Subconsciously easily perceived:

  • White. The color of purity is ideal for bathing "symbolism";
  • Gray. A neutral tone that does an excellent job of the background;
  • Yellow. Hue of the sun and optimism;
  • Pink, peach. Delicate colors that will set in a calm mood.

The interior of the relaxation room in the bathhouse in bright colors

Of cold tones, it is recommended to use soft, light shades: lilac, blue, pale green. Also in the interior of the relaxation room in the bath, pastel colors and necessarily accent areas are used, as in any other room. Bright touches will help to slightly enliven and dilute the calmness of the background of the room.

We select furniture

The standard furniture set includes armchairs, a sofa or deck chair, a table, a TV stand, a wardrobe for clothes and possibly a kitchen corner with a breakfast bar and the necessary equipment. In more expensive options, a barbecue oven or an electric fireplace is installed in this room. The furniture of the room will depend on the characteristics of the rest of the owners. Perhaps someone likes to sing karaoke and dance after soaring, while someone likes to sleep under the quiet sound of the TV.

Light furniture in the relaxation room in the bathhouse

Lighting

Lighting is recommended to be scattered. It does not strain your eyes and disposes to rest. The best option: a competent combination of natural and artificial lighting. The windows in the relaxation room are always present, so they are kept open during the day so that soft sunlight can freely enter the room.At night, spotlights scattered around the perimeter, a ceiling chandelier and a pair of sconces on the walls in the area of accent areas are used. It is not recommended to choose heavy duty or neon lamps. The former do not contribute to relaxation, and the latter give a cold, uncomfortable light.

Dressing

The decor of the lounge is selected at the very end of the design. With its help, the interior picture is done finished. Particular attention is paid to textiles, which give the atmosphere coziness and softness. Curtains on the windows, bedspreads on sofas, soft pillows, kitchen towels - all these elements help to "domesticate" the rest room. Also indoors it is advisable to find a place for a pair of pots with indoor plants. If wood is used in the decoration, then such a move becomes mandatory, since the green looks organically against the background of brown tones. The walls are decorated with paintings or series of photographs, and open shelves are attached to the corners. They place small “thematic” souvenirs: figurines, bowls, vases. In the Russian style, in the center of the table is usually a traditional samovar, which is complemented by a bunch of sushi.

Separately choose a chandelier, sconces and special shape fixtures that will organically look within the chosen style.

Conclusion

Nowadays, almost no summer cottage is complete without a bathhouse.Let it be simple, but this fact will not hinder the main function of the building. If the bath is cramped and fits only the steam room and the dressing room, then the rest room is "transferred" to the open air. It is simply equipped on the terrace. The option is not suitable for winter holidays, and you won’t have to pore over the interior for a long time. In monumental buildings usually provide for a room where guests will spend time after the procedures.
