The practical function is to protect the entrance to the house from various atmospheric phenomena - high humidity, low temperature, rain, snow, cold winds, hot sun. In private mansions, a basement, semi-basement is often made, because the door is high, several steps lead to it. For convenience, safety of lifting and lowering, this design is equipped with handrails and a ramp, and under the bottom there are organized storage areas for garden equipment, tools or a descent into the basement.

Materials used in construction

For furnishing, decorating the porch, the same materials are usually selected from which the house is built. These are many types of trees, including valuable, various types of bricks, concrete, gas blocks and foam blocks, natural stone, some types of metals. Tree

Most often, natural wood is used in country houses - log cabins or made from glued beams. Without special treatment, the tree does not last long, therefore it is recommended to carry out the impregnation with compounds against rot, mold, fungus damage annually. Also, wooden buildings are varnished, less often - colored paints. The horizontal surface is covered with a floor or terrace board, the railing is made of chiseled balusters, the visor is also made carved. Most often used for construction: pine, cedar, larch, spruce, aspen, oak, ash, birch, alder.

House with wooden porch

The wooden porch is usually made frame, less often - entirely from oak, birch logs, half logs. The front door is also preferably made of wood.

Concrete

A concrete building constructed in compliance with the necessary requirements, made of high quality material, will last a long time without losing its good appearance. To make the formwork into which the concrete mixture will be poured, only strong boards (not rotten, easily deformable), dry cement of high grades, aggregate in the form of gravel, bricks, river sand are taken. The construction made of foam blocks is much easier, cheaper than cast entirely from concrete. On sale in construction markets, in online stores, there are rounded blocks suitable for products in the form of a semicircle, the creation of columns supporting the canopy. The concrete structure is lined with natural stone, granite, paving slabs.

Brick

Brick structures are slightly inferior in strength to stone ones, this is especially noticeable when used brick is used - the structure will freeze in the winter and break down due to water entering small cracks. Clinker brick is the most suitable in this case - it is not afraid of frost, open fire, heavy loads, compression. The device of a brick porch is best suited for a house made of brick, but it also looks very impressive near buildings decorated with siding.

A rock

Stone is the most reliable, durable, but expensive material. The construction of it necessarily requires a stable foundation - natural stone is very heavy. This design is perfect for luxurious buildings "antique", especially imitating ancient castles, palaces. The entrance group is usually made of granite, marble, limestone, sandstone, rubble, pebbles. The porch can be completely made of stone or can only be faced with it.

When creating a stone porch, it is desirable to arrange the basement of the building with the same material - this is the easiest way to create a single composition.

Metal, iron

The entrance to the building, decorated with shiny or black forged or sheet elements, looks elegant, expensive. This option is suitable for many design styles, originally combined with brick, concrete, wooden buildings. But there are a number of drawbacks: the stairs come out very slippery during the winter, rain, hitting it, makes too loud noise, the coating constantly needs a corrosion-resistant coating, which will have to be updated periodically.

Design, stylistic design of the porch.

The design of the porch directly depends on the design style of the house itself - the project of the first is created in parallel with the second, observing the general architectural style. For the convenience of residents, the door is located three to six centimeters above the floor. The width of the main staircase is made from one meter, for the side or located in the outbuildings - smaller parameters are acceptable. The optimal size of the steps: height is 15-25 centimeters, width is 30-35 cm.
Finishing materials used to decorate the entrance group are designed not only to create a cozy atmosphere, beautiful appearance, but also to protect the structure from destruction under the influence of atmospheric phenomena, to hide minor flaws of the rough coating. Most commonly used:

  • plastic panels, stucco molding;
  • natural wood;
  • polycarbonate;
  • corrugated board;
  • laminate;
  • tile;
  • MDF;
  • porcelain tile.

In shape, it can be straight, rounded, gable, undulating, etc. A small structure is carried out on a wall, a larger, heavier one is supported by columns, elegant columns.

In the form of a terrace

The terrace area is used not only for entry and exit.In the summer, garden furniture is placed on it, using for family dinners, tea parties, and on a covered, heated, which needs to be glazed - even in winter. Visors are made different in shape, its length is at least 85-100 centimeters, the width should exceed the dimensions of the doorway by 40-60 cm. As an additional protection against weather phenomena, the design is equipped with side walls.

Entrance Lighting

The light near the entrance is a matter of convenience, safety of movement of residents. In the presence of sufficient illumination, the person entering the house will not trip over the threshold, will not lose keys. A platform of 100 by 150 centimeters, with up to three steps, one lighting device is enough - above the doors. If there are four or five steps, the backlight is mounted on both sides to illuminate each section of the structure. For long stairs, the number of lamps is increased.

Porch lighting

Can be used:

  • street chandeliers;
  • wall sconces;
  • Spotlights;
  • fluorescent, halogen lamps;

DIY concrete casting

Self-repair, creating a cozy porch from scratch is a task that is easy to perform by following the instructions from the Internet, building magazines. A suitable scheme is also taken from the relevant literature, developed by one's own hands.

Often the entrance group is made entirely of wood or has a lining of wood. This option is not very practical, since even with bioprotective impregnation it requires repair every three to four years. Concrete structures decorated with stone or tile are repaired much less often, but the time of complete hardening of the composition is about four weeks - finishing can only be done after that. The pouring effort is also great.

To cast a porch, you will need:

  • broken brick;
  • fittings, metal rod;
  • river sand;
  • cement grade M-400 or higher;
  • flexible iron wire;
  • container shank or formwork boards.

What should be considered when self-manufacturing the entrance group:

  • convenience, safety of lifting for any member of the family, regardless of their growth, physical condition. If there are small children in the family, additional railing is made for them;
  • the opportunity, if necessary, to bring large objects into the room;
  • the preferred number of steps is odd;
  • it is better to use high grade cement, as it is able to withstand heavy loads, which significantly affects the durability of the structure;
  • the size of the area should correspond to the width of the doorway - the door should open freely outward without touching the person standing there. Usually it is about 150-170 cm. Wide.

How to build a concrete porch with your own hands step by step:

  • a detailed drawing is made with all the necessary dimensions;
  • the required amount of materials is calculated, depending on the size of the structure, the type of soil on which it will be installed;
  • then proceed to cast the vertical posts. To do this, dig holes to a depth of 60 cm, lay the formwork there from boards or linoleum, fastened with a stapler. The design should expand slightly downward;
  • a thick solution is kneaded - for this, four parts of sand are taken per one part of cement;
  • reinforcement is placed in the middle, with the help of which future racks will be attached to the porch;
  • such supports are made at least four;
  • a sandy "pillow" is made, six to nine centimeters high, on which there will be a porch;
  • formwork is carried out - the boards are fastened with self-tapping screws, it is important here to accurately calculate the height of the steps;
  • after it is required to make waterproofing - ordinary polyethylene is placed on the “pillow”;
  • the base of the site is reinforced with metal rods that are attached to the bars of the racks - they are fastened together by wire;
  • the inside of the lower step is poured - here, to save cement, it is permissible to use broken, whole brick, pieces of dried concrete, other construction waste as a filler;
  • alignment of steps is carried out with a wide construction spatula;
  • in the same way all the other steps are successively done;
  • after two or three weeks, the concrete will finally set, it will be possible to remove the formwork, and then proceed to finish with tiles, stone, any other material that fits well with the overall style of the building.
