High-tech style in the interior

Living room decoration

High-tech design style first appeared in the late XX - early XXI century. It is a combination of mobility, functionality and high technology. This direction involves the use and combination of modern expensive materials and innovative technical devices, and therefore is considered prestigious and respectable. It is characterized by emphasized architectonics - the allocation of supporting columns, ceiling beams, dynamic furniture fittings.

Style History

High tech originated in the 70s of the last century. This original style is reflected in European and American architecture. In the United States, the first examples of style were a continuation of the modern, fashionable at that time. An original approach to the design of buildings and interiors quickly won the hearts of the progressive category of society. In Europe, the first example of the embodiment of the new trend was the Paris Pompidou Center, built in 1977 by Richard Rogers in conjunction with Renzo Piano. Initially, the attitude to this architectural project was ambiguous - many took it with a negative. But over time, a wave of discontent subsided, and now the French consider this masterpiece building to be one of the main attractions of the capital and are sincerely proud of it.

Modern interior

In the 80s, high-tech became even more popular. It was at this time that they began to actively use it for interior decoration.

Characteristic and characteristic features of the style

When describing the hi-tech style, it is impossible not to note its pragmatism and minimalism. The combination of a simple and at the same time impeccable geometric shape and straight lines with functionality, the inclusion of high-tech devices in the interior are the main features of the direction. In high-tech interiors, basic materials are used - plastic, metal, glass, concrete, chrome elements, mirror surfaces. A huge role is played by functional decentralized lighting. The surface of all the details in the interior is smooth and uniform. The colors are restrained, neutral, the presence of bright accents is not excluded.

Who chooses the Hi-Tech style

Such solutions support owners' craving for everything new, non-standard, fantastic, demonstrate their interest in the latest scientific achievements and easily adapt to changing needs.

Colors used in interior decoration

High-tech interiors are dominated by white, gray, black, silver shades in a lacquered or chrome version. Such shades were actively promoted in the early stages of the formation of the direction. It was the palette that stopped many from embodying such a style in their own interior. The situation seemed overly official, devoid of home comfort. Recently, the hi-tech color palette has expanded. Manufacturers add juicy color strokes to their product lines. As accents, clean bright colors are welcome - red, blue, green, yellow.

Materials and methods for interior decoration

In this direction, in combination with traditional materials for interior decoration, non-standard options are also used - plastic, glass, metal, mirror paintings. Natural materials may also be present in the interior, but they are not the main characters.

Walls

For the design of the walls in high-tech style, light neutral shades are suitable - white, concrete, beige, light gray, cream. The main condition - it is necessary to observe monochrome. The accent wall may be darker than the rest.

For decoration use the following materials:

  • paint;
  • decorative plaster;
  • Wallpaper - plain, without drawings;
  • large porcelain tiles;
  • plastic panels.

Light walls are often decorated with black and white plastic-framed shots.

Sometimes individual sections of the walls are decorated with natural materials or imitation stone, wood or leather. Fragmented use of masonry or rough concrete surfaces is also welcome. The latter can be replaced with clinker tiles and decorative plaster for concrete. Widely used mirror paintings, solid or in the form of mosaics, a large area - from floor to ceiling.

Walls can be painted with paint containing thermochromic pigment. This finish is able to transform its color when the temperature changes. Thanks to this property, decoration also becomes a full member of the team of high-tech interior elements.

Floor

In the realm of chrome, plastic and glass, a glossy flooring blends in perfectly. It can be a plain tile, porcelain tile, a vinyl tile or a laminate. A great option for a hi-tech interior is bulk floors that can reflect light and visually increase the space of a room. It looks great imitation of natural stone with characteristic veins and patterns. There should not be any prints or ornaments on the floor. Such coverage looks very presentable, but somewhat uncomfortable. To smooth this impression, it is enough to supplement the composition with a small accented carpet with a long pile. The floors covered with porcelain stoneware or tiles are very cold, so it is worth equipping the floor with heating by installing the “Warm floor” system.

Ceiling

High-tech ceiling can be decorated in the traditional way. A simple, smooth monophonic surface will be an excellent backdrop for modern fixtures. Another option is the installation of suspended ceilings in combination with stretch sheets. Glossy or matte PVC ceilings in white, gray and black shades are ideal for this interior style. The advantage of such ceilings is that they make it possible to hide wires for spot lighting or LED strip, which will make the ceiling magical.

High-tech interior doors and partitions

The door in the interior of high-tech should correspond to the main features of the style. Non-standard materials are welcome. For example, glass, which creates an interesting play of light and shadow, attracts attention. Canvases from eco-veneers should be selected in a strict and simple form. Made in alternating contrasting black, gray, white shades with the addition of glass or mirror stripes, they organically fit into the high-tech architectonics.

You can take a chance and install the interior door of steel. This is a great choice for a brutal male interior.

Interior doors

A key aspect of the hi-tech concept is the interior's ability to be multi-functional, mobile and instantly transform. Therefore, here and nowhere else are more appropriate sliding and folding doors and partitions. They allow you to change the layout in the blink of an eye, dividing the space into separate zones or combining again. With their help, you can quickly turn a one-room apartment into a two-room apartment and vice versa. Sliding systems are necessary to ensure that the interior is filled with air and light. They help create the illusion of freedom and space. Glass partitions equipped with shiny metal fittings fit perfectly into the interior, which is filled with strict "cold" materials. Glass can be transparent, frosted, tinted, decorated with sandblasting or pasted over with colored film. With the apparent fragility of the product have sufficient strength and reliability. In their production, tempered glass is used, which upon impact breaks up into small fragments with non-sharp edges. Another option is triplex - a multilayer material, upon breaking which fragments remain on the film.

Lighting

The main requirements for high-tech fixtures are the presence of a simple design, clear straight lines, the correct geometric shape. Metal and glass products are welcome. Lampshades can be transparent, opaque or color. Often products are decorated with chrome elements. Since multifunctionality and mobility are important in this style, it is desirable that the plafonds have the ability to change position and illuminate the area that is currently needed. As lighting devices, spots on rails or rails are suitable. Widely used spot lighting and LED backlighting, which allows not to turn on the main device.

The central chandelier in such an interior may be completely absent. It is replaced by wall and ceiling spotlights or a floor lamp with an overhang.

Furniture selection

The main requirement for furniture is simplicity, rigor, lightness and functionality of the design. In such interiors, it is better to do with a minimum set of products in order to save as much free space as possible. Furniture that is easy to transform and moves around is welcome. For example, a table or cabinet on wheels, a sofa bed, a bed, which with the help of simple manipulations turns into a cupboard or table, a coffee table that transforms into a dining room.

Manufacturers are actively developing innovative high-tech interior furniture. Its range is constantly updated with interesting new products. Among them are shelves made of glass or metal, chairs made of genuine or eco leather with chrome inserts, glass or plastic tables.

Upholstered furniture is characterized by simple geometric shapes. Upholstery is made of dense anti-vandal fabric of neutral shades or leather. Calm range can be diluted with bright pillows.

You should know that in the style of hi-tech any creative modern furniture of complex, incredible forms is quite appropriate.

The use of textiles in the design of windows

In the "cold" interiors of this style, ordinary textile curtains are practically not used. Here, their role is played by metal blinds, Japanese panels or roller-blinds with remote control. If fabric curtains are present, they appear only in the company of the above devices. Curtains, as a rule, are simple stripes of fabric in white, gray, black or beige. Their upper edge is hidden in the ceiling niche and is mounted on the cornice installed in it. No decorative elements.

Accessories and decor

Hi-tech does not tolerate an abundance of accessories.Shiny metal and glass details and designs act as decorative elements in the interior - tables with chrome legs, aluminum racks, tempered glass cabinets. A designer product can play a similar role - an unusual shape chair or a backlit table. The style is characterized by open communications. Therefore, the ceiling and walls are often decorated with metal pipes. And, of course, the “high society" of such interiors - modern technical devices - a chrome refrigerator, oven, microwave, stove, large-screen TV, audio system, table with a display.

Laconic interior

Examples of interior decoration of an apartment

When decorating a high-tech interior, any details that are associated with classics are inappropriate. You should not use carved furniture made of natural wood, no matter how beautiful it may seem to you. Oversized items that clutter up the room are undesirable. A modern interior requires the use of simple forms, straight, clear lines, mobility and multifunctionality.

Apartment decoration

Hallway / hallway

For decoration, both natural and synthetic materials are suitable - tiles, porcelain stoneware, PVC panels, transparent and frosted glass, neutral plain wallpapers, decorative plaster, painted with water-based paint with the addition of color. It is necessary to think over the interior so that there is a maximum of free space. It is better to abandon all that is superfluous, restricting yourself to a built-in closet with mirrored sliding doors and a banquette equipped with a shoe rack. There should be enough space for free movement. Walls can be left without decor, but if such an interior seems too boring for you, add a touch of comfort by hanging a few photos in black or white plastic frames.

Hallway interior

Living room

When decorating the hall, you should get rid of any elements that appear in classic living rooms. Here, priority will be given to modern technical devices.

In this room, a plain neutral wall decoration will perfectly combine with a shining glossy floor and a calm laconic ceiling. On the floor, the centerpiece can be a bright long-pile carpet. As a color accent can be a chair or sofa. The main thing is that bright strokes should be single and not repeated in other interior details. TV walls have lost their relevance, but a cabinet or shelf with glossy or glass facades and chrome handles will be more than appropriate. Even if the TV is mounted on a wall, you can put a remote control on the stand, put an audio system or set-top box. You can hide the TV behind the remote-controlled sliding panels.

Living room interior

A hanging or built-in fireplace with a modern design will be a great decoration for a high-tech living room.

It is worth giving preference to multifunctional transformable furniture. This will help to get by with a minimum number of objects and save maximum free space.

The spacious room can be zoned with transparent partitions or accent finishes.

To revitalize the technogenic space of the world of modern gadgets a little, just add a couple of large plants - ficus or decorative palm tree to the decoration of the room.

Kitchen

Furniture in the high-tech kitchen acts as a bright accent. Against the background of light - white or gray walls, she looks particularly expressive and dynamic. The headset can be bright red, blue, purple, yellow or green. Kitchen apron can be made of granite, glass or metal. For the floor, you can use monophonic ceramic tiles, porcelain stoneware, laminate or vinyl coating. The composition is perfectly complemented by metal elements - chrome legs for a bar counter, glass holders, roof rails. Facades can have glazing - transparent or opaque.

Hi-tech kitchen

The main decoration of the kitchen are chrome or glass appliances - stoves, ovens, hoods, microwave ovens, refrigerators. A toaster, an electric kettle, a coffee maker, and other appliances made of glossy plastic, metal or glass will perfectly complement the interior. Lighting should be distributed in zones. Separately highlighted dining area, cabinets and worktop. Fresh flowers in such kitchens are infrequent guests. However, if there is a large space, the green inhabitants of tropical latitudes will bring comfort and harmony.

In studios or if the kitchen is attached to the living room, it can be delimited by using a glass or plastic sliding partition, a bar counter.

Bathroom and toilet

Making a high-tech bathroom is a great idea. Even the smallest space can be visually enlarged using glossy and mirror finishes. You can finish the entire wall with a mirror cloth, thereby visually increasing the small room by half. Glass shelves built into a niche will look great. Chrome faucets, shelves, a heated towel rail, a hanger for bath accessories make the bathroom spectacular and modern. In addition to the above, you can use metal or glass dispensers for liquid soap, toothbrush holders, glass soap dish.

Plumbing in this style has simple geometric shapes and clear outlines. The sink may be made of metal or glass.

Bathroom interior

Walls and floors are best faced with plain ceramic tiles or mosaics. It is necessary to choose finishing materials in the basic shades of style - white, gray, black, dairy, silver. As an accent element, you can choose bright red, yellow or blue objects. It can be a bright curtain for a shower or a plastic cabinet. Instead of curtains, you can use the glass partition integrated in the bathtub design. It may be included or purchased separately.

The hi-tech wall-mounted toilet is best suited for use with a chrome-plated flushing key. For a hidden installation installation, you have to make a box or move the entire wall, because of which the space is noticeably eaten. Therefore, it is worth giving preference to a bright glossy finish, which visually compensates for these losses. Another metal element in the toilet can be a hygienic shower, which will go well with a chromed glass for a brush and a holder for toilet paper.

In the combined toilet is not always a place for a bath. In this case, it can be replaced with a shower cabin with or without a tray. A shower cabin with a metal ladder and glass doors will fit in perfectly. If necessary, you can separate the area with the toilet with a transparent partition.

Bedroom

The design of the bedroom in high-tech style will not appeal to everyone. The room for rest and relaxation should not be turned into a technogenic zone. To create the right atmosphere, a few characteristic details will be enough - chrome lamps, a minimalistic mirror cabinet, a glass partition that separates the wardrobe, bed area, deprived of decorative elements, but equipped with LED strip or spotlights. The illuminated bedside space creates the illusion of a soaring bed, which, of course, is relevant for sci-fi style. Textiles - soft pillows, a plaid and curtains will help to soften the “cold” strict atmosphere of the technogenic interior and make it more comfortable. Do not forget about the soft monochrome carpet, which will give you a pleasant feeling every time you step on it. Good examples of hi-tech style bedroom decoration are presented in the photo below.

Children

High-tech is not suitable for a children's room. But for a teenager such “possessions” are the ultimate dream.Stylish minimalist furniture, a work desk made of black glass and complemented by metal elements, spotlights of an unusual shape, modern gadgets and other high-tech devices will not leave him indifferent. Such decisions will delight the occupant of the room, regardless of gender.

Conclusion

High-tech style is perfect for a small one-room apartment and for a spacious private mansion. The clarity of the lines makes the rooms rigorous and concrete. But this does not mean at all that one will not be able to relax here after the rapid pace of urban everyday life. On the contrary, the absence of unnecessary details, a large amount of air, light and space in such interiors contributes to good rest and relaxation. And you can add a little warmth and comfort with the help of textiles, a soft carpet or a knitted blanket.
