Combined kitchen-living room in one line
Simplicity in organizing the preparation and serving of food, home gatherings and holidays. There will no longer be a need to carry food from one room to another. The ability to simultaneously perform several tasks, for example, cook food while talking with guests, without the need to huddle together in the kitchen. You can install a TV to watch it from the kitchen, thereby saving the cost of additional equipment.

When creating the interior, it is necessary to purchase a strong exhaust hood or ventilation system, since smells coming from the kitchen area will also be present in the guest room.

What to consider in design

The most important detail is the selection of colors and shades for walls, floors, and ceilings, because the visual change in space depends on this. The most advantageous colors for this are cold, neutral shades.
Ideal options are white, beige, coffee or light green. White color carries energetic charge, beige and coffee give the room a sense of comfort, light green calms the nervous system and helps to relax after a hard day. Be careful with shades of dark brown, gray and black colors, they visually narrow the space.

The design of the kitchen-living room in dark colors
The second most important point is the style in which your kitchen is decorated living room. It is better to make both the kitchen and the living room, if possible, in the same style, since different styles can contradict each other, spoiling the overall impression. Options for stylistic solutions for the modern interior of the living room-kitchen:

ClassicSuitable for people in a conservative warehouse and will look great against the background of lighting by spotlights. This style primarily promotes comfort, elegance, which does not tolerate a heap of furniture.
MinimalismSuitable for people who spend little time at home or, for example, do not like to cook, and spend a lot of time in the kitchen. Only the necessary equipment used, multifunctional furniture, perfectly fit into this style. Minimalism is characterized by a combination of white, sand and black colors, as well as elements of art decor, for example, mirror inserts.
High techThis style is suitable for modern people who are not afraid of experimentation and includes practical and functional elements of decoration. This style is focused on functionality and the use of high technology, combined with a discreet decor, decorated in ultra-modern materials.
ScandinavianThe style is laconic, light and unusual design. It contains mostly natural materials such as stone or wood and the colors of the white palette. The style is distinguished primarily by the desire for coziness and a family atmosphere.
LoftPerfect for apartments with an unusual layout and large area, it is characterized by high ceilings, practicality, a lot of light, restrained shades of colors. In this style, industrial elements are easily combined with interior items. It can be beams, floors and masonry.

Particular attention should be paid to the arrangement of furniture, namely the zoning of the kitchen and living room, this will help to clean faster, keep clean and tidy, and also work, relax, and spend time with family much more productively. To abstractly divide a room, you can use:

Furniture

A great example is the dining table. It will not only separate the kitchen from the living room, but can also serve as a work surface during cooking, or the dining area. Lighting devices located on the ceiling, walls, within it, can also delimit the room.

Bar counter

The bar counter carries both practical and often decorative significance. If you had to tear down a wall to create a kitchen-living room, you can, without demolishing it completely, use it as a bar counter, decorate it with decorative stone or plaster, and at the same time create an original design, take the wall itself as a basis, for example, by making an unusual shape rack by inserting multi-colored glass or painting with paints. It creates an additional work surface for the kitchen. A special niche or canopy for storing glasses will contribute to the obvious demarcation.

Kitchen Area

The kitchen corner will clearly distribute the boundaries of the working areas, with such a delimitation of space, one should take into account the soft coating of the corner, which should be at a decent distance from the kitchen equipment.

Materials and lighting

The walls in the kitchen can be covered with plastic panels, tiles, or decorative stone, while in the living room, use wallpaper, whitewash, decorative plaster or drywall. The floor in the kitchen can be tiled, while in the living room there is linoleum or carpet. If the materials are in the same color palette, this will create a noticeable contrast in the volume, which, when light is reflected, will indicate how the zones are optically separated from each other.

False walls

Decorative panels or screens are perfect. It is important that decorative panels do not require special installation or preparation of the wall surface, leaving space for bold design decisions, as they can be made under tiles, stone, sand and so on. Screens are great for options when you want to separate a specific area for a while, for example, if someone works in a recreation area while you are cooking or at the reception to make some part of the kitchen inaccessible.

Lighting

In the kitchen, you can use the built-in lights and lamps located in the center of the dining area, and in the living room use spotlights, along with sconces, located as necessary. You can set the brightness control of the light, which will help to divide the surrounding space.Embed the backlight in the bar, which will provide both the illumination of the working area and the necessary light separation for zoning. An island in the middle of the kitchen-living room

Contrasts of colors and their shades

It is better to choose colors in one color palette, the contrast of which will not irritate the eye, tangibly separating parts of the room from each other. Often, white, cream, ivory, and also magnolia are perfect for this.

Ceilings

This solution is more suitable for rooms with high ceilings. In this case, you can use decorative suspended structures or built-in ceiling lights for suspended ceilings made of drywall.

Layered Designs

In this case, shelving is perfect. They can be demonstratively from the floor to the ceiling itself, or they can be made only half of the wall, or they can be quite low with inserts made of any material, such as wood, plastic or glass. You can use the rack, to store things, for decor, photographs or plants.

Raised floor in one of the areas

This creates a visual impression of the podium, but it is worth considering that high ceilings are required for this solution.

Arches

This type of zoning can be used in conjunction with others, for example, with a bar or dining table. This will increase the visual feel of dividing rooms.

Kitchen area

Furniture in the kitchen should be dark shades, in contrast to walls, floors and ceilings, because the furniture in light colors makes the room much smaller visually, which is separate from the original design project goal. When choosing color solutions, it is worth considering the design of the furniture itself and the location of the lighting fixtures. As a decoration material use natural wood and stone.

Separation of the architectural form of gypsum

It is necessary to provide illumination of important working areas: sink, stove and countertop.

Cozy kitchen-living room
Particular attention should be paid to the arrangement of furniture in the kitchen, as this will help save more work space. There are several options:

  • For a country house or cottage, mainly if the house has only a few large rooms, the island type of furniture arrangement is better suited.
  • For one-room apartments or small rooms, where every centimeter of space is taken into account, the location with the letter G or one next to it will be most acceptable.
  • For rooms with a large footage, you can install furniture like the letter P or in 2 rows.

When choosing furniture for the kitchen, it is important to consider that the furniture was made of materials resistant to moisture and steam.

White kitchen and living room with dining room

The flooring for the kitchen is better served by tiles, as it is more functional for highlighting the kitchen area and practical for cleaning.

The technique should be compact, as well as maximally functional. A variant of the built-in technology is perfect for this, since it very clearly meets all these requirements, allowing you to save a lot of space. It is also important to note that the technique should be as quiet as possible so as not to cause discomfort to people in the living room.

Living area

When placing furniture, it is necessary to leave an empty space sufficient so that it is possible to move or change the arrangement of furniture in relation to the situation. Furniture is best chosen on the basis of a corner or island type, which provides an optically larger free room space.

For the design of the room, you can use carpets or carpets, upholstered furniture, pillows, decor elements, which is distinctly opposite from the kitchen, which should be extremely practical, since this zone should meet all standards of comfort and look profitable, being the main room in the house.

Separating the kitchen from the living room table
Lighting should not be bright, dim.It is better to make lamps in different parts of the room, just not using a chandelier, as this meets two important conditions, firstly, it helps the zoning of the room, and secondly, thereby creating lighting that is comfortable for relaxation, work and eating which can not be used depending on the need. For example, if you want to read on the couch with a cup of coffee, you do not need to turn on the whole light, you can use the lamp in a specific area. An excellent option would be the small-spot lighting of a multi-level ceiling. In this case, you can turn on or off the required number of lamps for you, creating a romantic or working atmosphere.
Diagonal kitchen in the living room
In the hall, a floor covering can serve as a carpet, as well as parquet, which looks much more concise compared to the tiles in the kitchen, which contributes to the allocation of a recreation area.
Proper distribution of areas of the living room itself, certainly requires special attention. The working area should be arranged next to the window, so that in addition to electric, there is natural light. Make a recreation area in the opposite corner, as far as possible from the kitchen, so that nothing subsequently interferes with your comfort. The dining area should be closer to the kitchen to increase functionality, saving you time.
