Loft style hallway

Each person receives the first impression of housing, having crossed his threshold. That is why modern households are trying to choose non-standard areas for decorating halls. The design of the entrance hall in the loft style can be considered very interesting: it is simple to implement, it looks fresh and unusual, it is able to create a special comfort of living. To design the front in this direction, you must initially draw up a plan that will take into account the features and type of selected finish, the overall arrangement of furniture. It is recommended to install only the most necessary products, without which it is impossible to do without in the hallway. Also, you should not choose bulky furniture that reduces free space. The simpler the hallway will be equipped, the more precisely the loft will be sustained in it. This rule should be followed when choosing lamps, decor. Simplicity and freedom - the most important characteristics of the direction, allowing you to easily translate it into reality.

Features and characteristics of the style

Loft refers to those styles that are quite easy to implement in any room. That is why it is suitable for a spacious hall, and for a tiny hallway. The direction should use the most natural shades, as well as natural, unprocessed materials. The main advantage of the style is the optional finish: the presence of simple brickwork or rough plaster is quite acceptable for him. As for the situation, it should be comfortable. A small amount of furniture, freedom of movement, a lot of open space - all this is about the loft. Therefore, when implementing it in the hallway, it is worth taking care of the careful selection of furniture and its arrangement in a space limited by area. Numerous decor in the loft is also not welcome. The best option for the destination will be 1-2 themed decorations. Moreover, not only paintings or any structures made of metal or wood can play their role, but also original lighting devices.

The choice of materials for decoration

The main requirements for decorating a hall in a loft style is their simplicity and reliability. Any pretentiousness is excluded. Preferred are materials with rough processing, natural raw materials (stone, wood) or their imitation. A combination of different type and structure finishes is allowed in any variations:

  • the use of different materials for different walls;
  • separation of wall materials horizontally or vertically;
  • selection of individual sections of walls (for example, laying out corners with a stone or inserting wooden panels in the center of one of them).

Brick in the loft hallway

Such combinations for the stylization of the walls must be regarded in relation to the size and shape of the equipped hallway. Moreover (or at least interspersed with these materials) they must be present in the corridor. As for the floor coverings and the ceiling, it is recommended not to use different combinations of materials for their design. Otherwise, the general interior of the hall may look messy.

Walls

Since a lot of dust accumulates in the hallway from the street, it is recommended to choose materials with a slight embossment or a smooth matte surface for wall decoration. The most profitable solutions for decorating a lobby in the loft style include:

  • washable wallpaper under a brick: easy to clean, practically do not accumulate dust, belong to the budget options;
  • wooden panels and boards: emphasize a hospitable and warm homely atmosphere, at the same time create a comfortable stay, are easily cleaned from dust and other contaminants;
  • facing brick (or panels under a brick): the direction is ideally emphasized, they will help to create a cosiness of living;
  • natural and artificial stone (with minimal embossment): it looks unusual, with dense laying and slight depth of joints between individual elements, a significant accumulation of dust is completely eliminated;
  • painting (it is recommended to combine with one of the above types): an economical option, easy to care for and does not require special preparations for application.

Flooring

The classic flooring for loft areas is wood. True, parquet in this case is not recommended to be considered: it will visually make the hallway narrow. Laminate flooring refers to budget decisions. But for laying in the hall and corridor, materials with 32 or 33 class are suitable. Terrace board refers to more expensive and wear-resistant options. It will retain its original appearance and condition for many decades.It is allowed for loft styling and laying ceramic tiles with a matte surface. It will be completely safe (non-slip), while it will not accumulate a lot of garbage.

Ceiling

When choosing the decoration for the ceiling in the loft hallway, you must be guided by the rule: the simpler the better. Therefore, a win-win option will be the usual whitewashing of the surface. In the presence of high ceilings and the need to hide all their irregularities, it is allowed to install stretch linens under satin, whitewash. A good option will be the installation of drywall structures. It is better to make a single-level ceiling, which will be complemented by hanging chandeliers. For brighter and better quality lighting of the hallway, combined with the corridor, two levels can be derived. One of them will be equipped with spotlights. In this case, the color at both levels should be the same. Acceptable colors for loft-style ceilings: beige, light yellow, white, cream, light coffee.

In any variation of this direction, brown or brick color should be present.They emphasize the comfort of design, create a warm homely atmosphere. The following combinations are appropriate:

  • white + brick: will visually expand a small hallway;
  • gray + red-brown (blotches of black are also allowed): will create a calm and restrained atmosphere;
  • black + light brown: playing in contrasts will help to distinguish different parts of the hallway (this option is more suitable for spacious rooms);
  • beige + light brown: visually increase the space, the best option for narrow rooms;
  • black + beige + dark brown: emphasizes the modern arrangement of the home;

Lighting

Creating the right lighting in the loft style is achieved through the use of bright lamps with soft light. It can be soft white or slightly yellow, but cold white in the style should be excluded. When using a dark finish, it is recommended to supplement the main lighting with the illumination of skirting boards or walls (this will require vertical installation on the walls of narrow and long lamps with a distance of 40-60 cm). Spotlights are recommended as the main light. You can replace them with stylized devices with thin metal shades that have strict geometric shapes. We allow the option of hanging chandeliers with shades in the form of hemispheres or cubes, painted in black, gray or brown. Edison's loft and lamps are perfectly emphasized. True, they are better used as auxiliary lighting: the yellow light of the bulbs will not allow enough light for the room. On the walls, a pair of spots with a rough design is allowed. But the sconce in the loft hallway should be abandoned.

Furniture selection and placement

The absence of a passage or arch separating the corridor and the hallway allows the installation of a sliding wardrobe.Its doors can be either mirrored (without sandblasting) and closed with frosted glass or be glued with a film under a tree. In a small hallway, decorated in a loft style, you should install a compact shoe rack, hang a neat hanger. A suitable addition would be a wooden bench or a full-fledged shoe rack with a soft seat and a hidden compartment inside for storing shoes. With a small free space of the hallway, it is recommended to give preference to a small amount of furniture: a narrow shoe rack, a shelf with a mirror and hooks on the walls for outerwear and hats. Such a kit will be enough to store things, and at the same time it will not pile up space. Selected furniture should have the appropriate design: be wooden, film over wood or be equipped with plain facades.

Decorative parts and accessories

It is recommended to use a composition of several small elements as a hallway decor or choose one large product for decoration. The most suitable options for decorating a loft style hall include

  • wooden key holder (can be equipped with rough metal hooks, surround ceramic decor);
  • imitation of a deer’s head or real deer horns (they will look very unusual and will help emphasize the direction, 3d models made of paper, plywood will be suitable as imitations);
  • paintings (with simple inscriptions, motivational appeals, in retro style);
  • metal or wooden skeleton watches (a great solution for an empty wall with brick trim);
  • old mechanisms (perfectly complement the style, but will require frequent cleanings, otherwise dust will constantly accumulate on them);
  • metal posters or logos (including an imitation of bottle caps in an enlarged size).
