Hall with fireplace and harp

The Empire style that came from medieval France in the interior is an amazing combination of royal triumph and military - triumphal splendor in all its manifestation. In the interior, there is always a note of rigor and brilliance of gold accessories. The empire is based on majestic columns in palaces, stucco moldings, round arches, frescoes. A special highlight are objects of military symbols - these are swords, weapons, swords, shields and other attributes of war. To create such an atmosphere of our days, only large rooms are suitable, where you can place voluminous pieces of furniture and medieval accessories. Very rarely, such an interior can be seen in city apartments, as a rule, it is suitable for large country houses, banquet halls and expensive luxury hotel rooms.

History of occurrence

The style originated during the reign of Napoleon, when there was a need to emphasize the greatness and status of the imperial palace. The pomposity and classicism of Napoleonic rule have survived in the decoration to this day. The luxury and grandeur of the imperial house was intended for royalty. There was a clear need to emphasize the characteristic military power of the emperor of France, to show his military superiority and pathos as the supreme commander of the country. During his reign, Bonaparte was eager to conquer new lands, to create a vast empire under his command. He wanted to combine not only cultural traditions, but also to create his new style in all directions - architecture, painting, art and theater. Thus, he managed to achieve significant results: during the reign of the emperor, huge medieval palaces were completely rebuilt in architectural terms, plays were created praising the military power of the emperor, and on his canvases depicted his grandeur and brilliance of the palace life.

Ceiling design

One very important point in the design of an interior empire is the presence of premises with high ceilings. If the apartment is small, then using such an interior will not be advisable, since the decoration will not be able to reflect this style completely. The highlight of this direction is the royal decoration, grandeur, so the room should not be small.

Spotlights on the bedroom ceiling

  1. The ceiling may be domed or rectangular, but of a large area.

Royal floor in a modern design

For modern flooring, high-quality parquet is used, marble tiles with various patterns and mosaics. Most often, it is parquet that is laid out of valuable species of wood, stronger and more attractive in appearance. To create shades and patterns on the floor, parquet boards of different colors are used, and symmetry must be present. Typically, the pattern starts from the center of the floor and reaches the corners of the room. Sleeping rooms, as well as living rooms on the floors, are covered with handmade carpets, always with the presence of an ornament or pattern. Most often, blue, dark red, and beige carpets are used. White coatings with a golden ornament are used a little less often, but such options are suitable for a festive atmosphere, and everyday life requires a more practical design. Marble tile looks quite beautifully, exquisitely, bewitching with its brilliance a variety of patterns. Use it for ceremonial halls, banquet rooms, wedding palaces and other similar rooms. When creating an Empire style, a warm wooden parquet is more suitable for a private house.

Furniture

In terms of the choice of furniture, there are several fashion trends introduced into the design of the Empire style from different countries of Greece and Rome. At the same time, Empire style furniture sets have the basic common elements:

  1. All furniture, its elements are made of solid valuable wood.As upholstery use only expensive natural materials.
  2. The furniture body is decorated with stucco molding, various figures, floral ornaments with the addition of gold and bronze.
  3. To create an interior throughout the house, furniture is made from only one species of wood so that it does not differ in appearance.
  4. Lack of small forms, as well as details. All furniture is massive and majestic in appearance. Chairs are always with high backs.
  5. A strict style is combined with floral patterns, artistic design, decorated with carvings.

Nowadays, the interior of the Empire style has been significantly supplemented, as well as modified, has become more modern, refined. Of course, time does not stand still, new materials appear, a variety of scenery and decoration materials.Modern designers add their own flavor to the development of projects. Today in the interior of the royal pomp you can even see the skins of dead animals, instead of carpets. However, the essence of this direction has remained the same - the use of natural expensive materials to create imperial sophistication and strict military triumph.
